I mean seriously. It fits all the criteria... And is the first one to make sense without far-reaching assumptions. But I have no idea what it means.

Just the title for me. The title of the song is ridiculous. :P

Which is why it's no longer valid to make comparisons between the two. Like "Give Up The Ghost" with "ETIAW"

People keep comparing the two. Like the dude earlier who kept saying "Give Up The Ghost is 10000000000000 times better". That's what I'm referring to. And the dude with the screen name the_gloaming: The Gloaming is a Radiohead reference. People are comparing the two and I don't see an inherent link. At all.

See? And this comes from "the_gloaming" which is a Radiohead reference. You're going to inherently be unhappy with Eno-produced Coldplay if you compare it to Radiohead! I love Radiohead. But it is Radiohead. What if I was like "OH MY GOD I HATE THE RECKONER. CLOCKS IS WAYYYY BETTER TIMES 8475094385794305" Uhhh...k? That's cool. And totally makes sense...

And that's cool. Be critical in a logical, cognitive sense. It will garner you and others more respect, no matter which side of the debate you're on. I made that post mainly because I hate the vehement Radiohead comparisons. It's clear that they came from similar backgrounds and everything, but evolution clearly diverged them a really long time ago. They're different bands with different niches. Apples and Oranges.

^ That's cool, I just don't like people violently angsty against the song. I wasn't talking about you specifically. You're fine. I don't like it when people are like OMG RADIOHEAD IS SOOO MUCH BETTER EEEWWW THEY STOLE IT Really? Shut the hell up! Let's be more like critics and less like children. If you like Radiohead better (They are fantastic) listen to that, but don't throw poop all over this forum by making comparisons that don't make sense.

If you hate it, don't make the rest of us hate it. It's simply different. Either way, you're still (Cold)playing the game. If you want to quit, that's great. But we're Coldplaying and not about to quit until we hear the album. I think we should all make nice and say one thing we like about it and one thing we hate about it. Me? I like the uplifting feel of it. I hate how the main auditory theme of the song was sampled. URRRGGG EVERYONE KISS AND MAKE UP. OR STOP COLDPLAYING WITH US.

I mean this song will, I'm sure as campy and slightly awkward it is as a single, will play a great role in LP5. Let me explain. I think that the album can be considered a concept album when it comes out. As their careers continue, each release becomes less of a "song-by-song" work and becomes more conceptually-tied. The singles used to be a bigger deal because they were each an individual creative entity: A separate work, if you will. Whereas Viva La Vida definitely had a theme (Like how the album faded into and out of itself the same way, plus motifs like "My feet won't touch the ground" and stuff). The differences between "Parachutes" and "VLV" are great, and even people who hate Coldplay can admit that. One isn't better than the other, they're just different. That being said, look at the singles released from each album, respectively. Parachutes had "Yellow," "Shiver" and "Trouble," which all received substantial radio airplay and can be sung even by people who don't know about Coldplay. Same with AROBTTH. "Clocks". "In My Place". Etc. X&Y is more cohesive as an electronic vibe. "Speed of Sound" did okay on the radio. I remember hearing it for the first time (I was 16) and being like WTF CHRIS. Also was the lead single. But the other stuff, not as well as previous efforts ("Talk" "The Hardest Part"). But these songs still played a pretty big role on the album. AND Viva (save for the title track). Who has EVER heard "Strawberry Swing" on the radio? "Lost!"? Lost! Is one of my favorites, but God I couldn't tear it from its place in the album because there's no way "Cemeteries" can smoothly transition to "42" in my mind (even if ghosts are living there!). Therefore, Coldplay I think is going for the same type of thing here. For proper promotion they must release a big, catchy, soaring arena song like this. Do you think they wanted to release "Speed of Sound" which just so happens to sound almost exactly like "Clocks?" I doubt it. We should not judge this as a single piece. It's like judging a book by its cover. Or a whole movie by a 30-second clip. Perhaps this is the conclusion or attitude of a conceptual protagonist within the album. We HAVE to give it a chance people. Not to do so is a little ignorant/impatient. We've waited like 3 years, what's another couple months?!

PREACH! By the way, love the picture. HAHAHA That sounds like a ridiculous summer sequel. I'm pumped for this new era. I will miss the Technicolor stuff though...

It's too early to judge. That's why people are saying that. I think we're all confused because we were expecting something revolutionary, and there's nothing Coldplay could have done to fulfill that. Could you tell me what exactly we were expecting? No one could have. Because we were anticipating a new era. And Coldplay is known for their dramatic switch-ups in EVERYTHING between albums. Remember X&Y? When Speed of Sound dropped we were confused because it sounded EXACTLY like clocks. It's a Lose/Lose battle for them. Get what I'm saying? Then the rest of the album came out and sounded completely different. As Coldplay fans, we're not so much embracing the fucked up thought processes that Chris and company have, we're celebrating the freedom of having those thoughts as a single creative entity. No matter how turbulent that is. RIP Viva, by the way. It was a good run.

Haters gonna hate, Trolls gonna troll. Bitchez gonna bitch. I was taken aback at first because that's not at all what I expected. I was kinda thinking it would be like a LiT kind of vibe. But this works too. Sampling works sometimes (LiT) but LiT was integrated so prefectly and struct a perfect balance between Hopkins and Coldplay. They seem to do it A LOT though. Once every album since X&Y, if I'm not mistaken. Arguably, more that once in Viva (Cough Cough Santarini) (By the way I'm on Coldplay's side for that one). I'm just saying a lot of people may sat that. The haters mentioned above, perhaps? Anyway, it's not the best Coldplay song, but neither was Violet Hill (my least favorite from Viva), which was the first out of the gate from Viva, which was stunning. Is that what they're trying to do, anyway? Come out with the best song right away? I still have faith in something great. Have we forgotten that these guys are geniuses? They know what they're doing. This is "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Samples."

The thing with me is that it's going to be coming out while the sun is coming up for me (I'm in Missouri), which would totally mess me up like all day. What should I do? I'll act on the whim of whomever is first to reply.

Nah, Coldplay's on EMI, who just so happen to be gold diggers. Radiohead's only able to do that because they self-release their stuff, which is awesome.
