Anche io sono dell'idea che una band debba evolversi ogni volta, altrimenti sarebbe davvero una noia! Però ecco, metto in discussione il modo in cui lo fa: una cosa è, secondo me, cercare nuove strade per una progressione artistica/strumentale; un'altra è adattarsi al mercato corrente, cosa che i Coldplay tra l'altro hanno fatto relativamente spesso nella carriera, cercando però di accontentare tutti gli ascoltatori in ogni modo. Purtroppo, e lo dico con davvero tanto rammarico, sembrano giustificare quest'ultima scelta con un "la musica oggi non ha più confini": mi chiedo solo quanto sia valida quet'affermazione e quanto Chris e gli altri abbiano ancora da spendere del loro "fuoco sacro".

Oh, it's a huge disappointment. I was very surprised by the guitar and the bass, but it sounds like a fake plastic song. Well, they look like a band made by teenagers trying to copy Maroon V's songs.

Da ormai quattro anni ho la inquietante sensazione che cerchino di non essere veramente se stessi, mettendosi maschere deformi ed cantando inni di plastica e quindi falsissimi, in busta regalo e formato famiglia. Comunque Random Access Memories è uscito tempo fa, eh.

Speriamo che alcune influenze psichedeliche siano davvero presenti! L'artwork (se di artwork si tratta) promette abbastanza bene, anche se dopo gli ultimi album ho imparato a giudicarli solo ascoltando la loro musica.

First of all, I dislike MX as a whole but there are some episodes which can be considered enjoyable: for example, Hurts like Heaven is a wonderful album opener with an energic rhythm (I also appreciate Jonny's solos and the new-vave atmosphere), though the voice is not clearly audible. Up with the birds is another song i really like, especially the ambient-like atmosphere. And oh, Moving to Mars is surely one of their masterpieces. GS is, in my opinion, a strange album: you need to know about Chris' personal life to fully appreciate LP6. I like Oceans, but I consider this album "just" a collection of simple melodies, not really inspired: i find their "soul", as I said in my previous post, in songs like "Ghost Story" and "All your friends". In conclusion, I dislike MX and GS because they seem too artificial to me, made of "easy" tunes that can conquer a large number of new fans, apparently forgetting about the old fanbase, more accustomed to a different way of making music from the band. It's just my opinion but I believe a lot of people share these thoughts.

Guys I currently feel the same way you do: it looks like Coldplay have lost their... soul? I don't know if this is the right term to define their (visible) lack of originality. Amazing day just goes on and on without a real direction, IMHO: it looks like they're tired of making music. When MX came out I was just a bit disappointed: I'm ok with the synthesizer nebula they used in the whole album. I enjoyed even some songs from GS: I am still hopeful about the upcoming record, but it's really hard to be a fan of a band loved by other people for so-called "hits" from the last two (three?) albums.
