  1. So.... Viva era stuff.
  2. What would be so bad about an electronica album?
  3. I think there's two directions Coldplay could go. Back to the basic, straight forward, and raw soft rock that made them famous.... or full out electronica, Coldplay-style of course.
  4. This is a much better explanation.
  5. OK. That's a nice effort but it still doesn't justify why they put 6 minutes of essentially nothing at the end of the album.
  6. I like it a lot, too. It's just, the last 6 minutes are really pointless. Truly. You can't look at it from any perspective and justify why it's there.
  7. If I've learned anything on the internet, it's that anything written in all caps will be heard and considered by whomever the receiver of this statement is.
  8. thanks
  9. This is very true.
  10. I completely disagree. I've always thought Neon Bible and Funeral are both outstanding, and that The Suburbs doesn't quite equate in comparison. :\
  11. At least its only 2:42! Imagine if it was another 6 minute song! But, I mean, I prefer Flashbulb Eyes to Rococo for example.
  12. I kind of dig flashbulb eyes actually. The lyrics are.... weak, considering there barely is any. But I do like the instrumental.
  13. Can you please elaborate? I'm interested in what you have to say about it.
  14. Anyone else think the second disc is significantly better?
  15. Here's where Reflektor falls in my eyes 1. Neon Bible 2. Funeral 3. Reflektor 4. The Suburbs The second half of the album is much stronger in my opinion because it tells a coherent story across its 6 tracks. It's Never Over --> Porno --> Afterlife in particular is the peak of the entire double album. The first half seems kind of unfocused to me; I don't really see a connection between any of these songs.
  16. Chris needs some pressure, though. It makes him better. (see AROBTTH and VLVODAAHF)
  17. ^ Yeah I heard. I've listened to it twice and I really, really enjoy it. And I compare Coldplay and Arcade Fire because they're hands down my two favorite bands.
  18. Impossibru!!
  19. Finished first half, waiting on second half to download. Here's what I thought: Reflektor -- 6 -- I'm a bit burned out on this song to be honest. I was tempted to just skip to the new stuff. We Exist -- 8 -- I dig the beat and the bassline, but the song just stays at one level the whole time. I would have liked to build up a bit more or have something happen. Flashbulb Eyes -- 7 -- A lot of people are writing this song off as the weakest song. I think it holds it's own against other tracks. And strangely enough, the very beginning of this track reminds me of Death Grips. Here Comes the Night Time -- 10-- OH HOHOHO... BOY!!! YES YES YES! This is just pure ear candy. The way Arcade Fire plays around with tempo and different sounds-- from the boat-horn noise in the first verse to high, clangy piano notes-- is just soooo good. The song just makes me smile. Normal Person -- 8.5 -- This song reminds me a lot of the Rolling Stones. Like Month of May, I've always loved it when they go straight-up rock and roll. It's a nice break from the Haitian drum beats and dance synths. You Already Know -- 7 -- The beginning and ending of this song remind me a lot of Sgt. Pepper's. It's very poppy, but I thought it was decent. Subsequent listens could raise or lower the score I have now, it's hard to tell. Joan of Arc -- 8 -- I enjoy this song a lot as well. It reminds me a lot of the B-52's, which my parents played a lot when I was growing up, so there's a bit of familiarity there. The first half is pretty good, but the hidden track is kinda pointless. I don't know why it's there.
  20. Early impressions: We Exist basically sounds the same as the live version, which is a good thing. HCTNT is a bit flat compared to the live version. Still love it. (edit: on second listen, it just all clicked. This song right here, is why I love music. Period.) NP is better on the album. Just my opinion. YAK reminds me of Sgt. Pepper's. I like it so far. JoA is very, very reminiscent of the B-52's. I love it. I don't know why, but the music's very quiet despite having my volume all the way up, which lessens the immersion. I won't be able to truly enjoy this album until it comes out for reals.
  21. Really? I've heard it's a stand-out track (in a good way)
  22. Cuz Coldplayers be all sentimental and shit. I'm assuming it's a little more dancy, less of a tear-jerker than previous albums?
  23. They're all great. You're in for a real treat. Neon Bible is my personal favorite, followed closely by Funeral; however, The Suburbs wasn't as strong in my opinion. I feel like Reflektor will wedge itself in between Neon Bible and Funeral. ps I have not heard it yet. Is it good? Scale of 1 to 10?
  24. I mean, at least that will always be a constant. CP will always kick ass live. My three major criteria for liking a band is as follows: 1) Overall quality of music 2) Diversity from album to album 3) Ability to perform They usually knock 2 and 3 out of the park. 1 varies a little bit.
  25. I have a feeling a lot of Arcade Fire fans won't like this album. It'll probably be their most divisive LP. On the surface, these songs are a bit more light-hearted than what most fans would want, but if you dig deeper the true beauty of these songs really begin to show.
