  1. haha!! It took donuts to bring you out of the woodworks! I like it! I like it a lot! :P
  2. I've been reading a lot about chris saying "these" songs will be your favorites one day but as I recall, he stated before one song that that particular song will be one of our favorites. I do not recall the exact quote and I may very well have missed him saying they all will. I feel like someone down the line has "misremembered" what chris said and caused a chain reaction of speculation as to what he meant (whether the songs would be on the album or not?)...we'll just have to wait and see won't we?
  3. In no particular order... Dave Matthews Band Red Hot Chili Peppers John Butler Trio Pearl Jam Dispatch
  4. Psyched!!! I'm on board with Klinghoffer all the way! I'm psyched about this album (and the 50+ b-sides that are sure to surface over the next few years)!
  5. If this ended up being the case...I would be EXTREMELY pissed! ..and shocked! Why would a band (that has gone through the amount of trouble that they have to keep things under wraps) routinely play 6 songs off of their LP months in advance of even announcing the tracklisting, much less releasing their album? I would be dumbfounded and angry. With every album comes a multitude of material that didn't find a place on the album and I hope that AT LEAST half of the new live material does NOT make the album. Not because I don't think they are good (I love all the new stuff) but because I don't want to be cheated. They knew that at least three of their festival gigs would be broadcast by major television broadcasters and so there is a multitude of fairly decent quality recordings of 5 out of the 6 new tracks. I would feel cheated as a fan in all honestly.. They get paid for all of their hard work. We pay for their hard work. I would gladly pay for a studio version of each and every one of their new songs but I do not want to have looked forward to this new album for as long as I have just to realise I've already heard it. EDIT: I meant to quote the previous post about the entire tracklisting... lol woops! I'm sorry for ranting and rambling...I love Coldplay!!
  6. ABSOLUTELY!...after hearing the batch a new songs for the first time nearly a month ago, a couple I liked immediately, and a couple had to grow on me. One that I liked immediately and even told multiple friends (friends that were concerned about where the next album might go) about how excited I was about the band's approach was 'Major Minus'. I REALLY liked that song, I even ripped it off of youtube so I could put it on a CD. Despite the really crappy quality of the sound I still enjoyed the live version I'd ripped immensely! Excited about the studio version more so than any other song in quite a while, I was on the computer when it aired on BBC radio. My reaction? I was like, "WTF is this?" While it certainly has grown on me a bit, I personally rate the studio version of Major Minus no better than some of their most mediocre of songs. To me, they took a terrific idea, a truly organic and raw rocking (for coldplay) song, and made it very plain by adding in all the tiny details that can often make (or break) a song. In this case, much of that ruined the song for me. Clearly, I was disappointed, I find myself skipping over the track when I listen to my newest Coldplay mix CD. I still have hope for LP5. I have hope for PoC and Charlie Brown, even UATW and Hurts like Heaven. I'm praying, hoping, wishing for a stripped version of Major Minus because I simply do not like the current studio cut. That is the root of my Coldplay frustration. Unfortunately it won't come to an ease for at least another month or two. So much for instant gratification! :laugh3:
  7. I'm thinking the same..there was no discount for purchasing the EP in its entirety. so having already bought Every Teardrop, I don't feel bad buying Major Minus and Moving To Mars since the grand total of the 3 tracks is the same as buying the EP all at once. Yay for me, yay for Coldplay, yay for the record companies!

Go back and watch the live versions on youtube, there is at least one (that I saw) that you can clearly see jonny muting his strings and standing by while the 'scratching' bass occurs. So it can't be jonny in the live (even though it sounds like it is), which leads me to believe that its not jonny in the studio either. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- looking at another video, it could be both? the video quality is too poor to distinguish really. ahhhh, it sounds like bass in the studio to me. ha
  9. Yesterday, The Coldplay Messenger sent an email stating the tracks are meant to be available to purchase individually. "NEW EP AVAILABLE ON ITUNES NOW Hello again. The Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall EP is now available to download on iTunes Stores worldwide. As well as Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, the EP features two brand new tracks - Major Minus and Moving To Mars, the first of which had Glastonbury Festival bouncing on Saturday night. Download the EP - or the individual tracks - from iTunes.com/Coldplay or by clicking your flag below: (Insert Flags)" (USA flag IS an option this time) So for those of you concerned about cheating Coldplay, they did intend for the tracks to be available for individual purchase. Yay! So don't feel bad! :P

I'm with ya, buddy! I really, REALLY hope they decide(d) to record some alternate versions to Major Minus like they did with lost and lovers in japan! While I still Like the studio version, I really, REALLY like the live version! So here's to hoping for a stripped version of Major Minus!! :D
  11. Not sure why but it will not embed properly. Maybe I need to change the size? I'll try and fix it later. It is easy enough to search on youtube as I'm sure we have all done for various bands/songs before. I'm sorry for wasting your times as it seems I have. It's only a suggestion, as they are one of many bands I have really come to like. I must run but I will try to embed some videos later for you.
  12. Also, after hearing this I am even more so excited about the potential for a live release (like 2003) of these songs. Major Minus is epic live and I get the feeling this would be too..along with all the other new material that they have played during their festival run! :)
  13. I'm digging it! I initially rated it a 6 but I think I had a different expectation than what it ended up being. On 2nd and 3rd listening it is creeping up on me..starting to grow on me, like many great songs out there have on first listen. Nice track overall though and happy to have been waken up (7am here) by an ill-timed (or perfectly timed?) phone call!
  14. :) Hi! Mississippi is definitely closer than Sweden or Denmark! :P How's it going neighbor?
  15. Indian Moon Wicker Plane Revolutionaries Fight No More All great tracks worth their time!
  16. I've been enjoying listening to these guys for about 2 years now and absolutely love them. For those familiar with Dispatch, Chad Stokes is one of the three members of the former Dispatch that went out and started his own band about 5 or 6 years ago (State Radio) and these guys rock! If you do venture off to check them out on youtube I recommend... Gunship Politico Riddle in Londontown Camilo Gang of Thieves Mr. Larkin There are many other great songs but those are some of my current Fav's!
  17. My first instrument was guitar and 2 years ago I began to pick up piano as well. It was a great decision. My understanding of the piano has expanded my vision on the guitar. I am by no means an expert player, mediocre at best in fact, but I have a much better understanding of the guitar now that I know the principles of piano. I would say yes, try out guitar if you have the time and desire to learn. Many Lefties learn on right handed guitars as well...

Checkin' it on the live version it's definitely gotta be Guy playin the crunchy bass there..though I thought it was Jonny on the guitar before I went back and looked.
  19. Loved it! Not fond of the distortion on Chris's voice though. The only other beef I have is on the weird effects jonny uses when he scratches just before the chorus. Great song nonetheless!
  20. For me Major Minus, Hurt Like Heaven, and Charlie Brown are A-okay! Better than that in fact! Every Teardrop - - I love the bassline in the second half of the song. I wish Guy would be a bit more involved earlier in the song. - I would drop the synth...or at least don't make it a focal point of the song. Turn the acoustic guitar track up in its place. - Will, I know someone will jump on me for this for sure, but he is not a premier drummer, but he is still pretty damn good! Having said that, I would much rather hear something besides Bump, Bump, Bump, and cymbals. I love the last minute of the song when they are jammin' out! I realize the jam out occurs out of a build up throughout the song but The first half of the song still leaves much to be desired for me. - Jonny, his presence is definitely felt in this song as he is in most of the new material. Love it! - As far as the lyrics go, whatever. haha Us Against the World - just a nice, heart-felt slow song. I like it!
  21. Hello, hello Coldplay nation! I've found this site extremely useful and informational over the last 72 hours or so and can't wait to get to chatting about the new material. Looking forward to sharing the exciting buildup to LP5 along with the rest of you. Major Minus goes live on the airways in about 12 hours! :D
