So a little birdy told me if you post a reply on here requesting a PM, one might receive a PM. Anyone?
  2. Coldplay played Oceans live for Zane on Radio 1 last week. I believe at the same time that the Chris interview was taped. Oceans was performed in full with no overlaying commentary at that time, in case you missed it. (If i'm interpreting your comment accurately.)
  3. I've got Oceans from Radio 1 on repeat, but I have a feeling this song won't get much play in my house. Having listened to it twice I'm sure it will grow on me, but right now I'm kinda thinking I'd enjoy an 'acoustic' version much better. It sounds to me like a song I'd hear on top 40 radio...only a chick would be singing it. I still think there's something for me on this album though and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.
  4. It really is a grower. But unlike all the other albums before, there's not really a song that jumps out at me, that I connect to. And on each of the other albums there were numerous on first listen... Parachutes: Yellow, Shiver, Everything's Not Lost, Trouble. AROBTTH: Pretty much the whole album but in particular for me were: Warning Sign, In My Place, Green Eyes, A Rush of Blood to the Head. X&Y: Talk, A Message, Fix You, What If. VLVODAAHF: Yes, Strawberry Swing, Death and All His Friends, Lovers In Japan. MX: Us Against the World is the only song that I can't stop humming or whistling. So basically I'm just disappointed; I enjoy some of the other songs but I have NEVER skipped so many tracks on a Coldplay album as I have with this one. It could be me, maybe my musical tastes have changed, but the fact that I still thoroughly enjoy each of the other albums, I don't think that's the case. I too, hope that Coldplay do a more intimate album next (if at all). Just the band with their instruments, and some raw, delicate emotion.
  5. Very good point. Love it or hate it, Coldplay are doing just fine.
  6. Your unwillingness to accept that they have an opinion is equally baffling.
  7. Good post. I'm extremely curious as to whether Coldplay will pick up on the sentiment from the part of Coldplay nation that doesn't like this album, or if they will continue down this path. If so, I'm afraid they will slip to my list of "I used to love those guys!" Fortunately though, once music has been written and put out their for the masses, it never goes away, so I will forever have Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, X & Y, Viva, EPs...etc. I have faith in them though. This will be a learning experience for them, this album will garner more negative reactions than any of their others.
  8. As easy as it is for everyone to discredit the review, A LOT OF PEOPLE AGREE WITH WHAT IT SAYS. That in itself gives the review credibility. With that said, I am one of the people that agree with it. I think these guys (Coldplay) are better than all the computerized mumbo jumbo they have pitched at us. As a result, I am disappointed with this album. It has some good moments, but it will likely go on the shelf, aside from a couple tracks. These guys are at their best when they just have their instruments in hand and playing from their hearts.
  9. Agreed. Only personally, had I done the final mixing and track selection..POC and Paradise would have been scrapped (or given to some chick artist to sing on their own album). I like Paradise more than POC, but as far as I'm concerned POC was just Coldplay's way of telling a joke to their fans.
  10. Yeah, rhythm of the beat itself is just fine. Minimalism is great (i.e. Frusciante on Californication) but It's the non-natural sound of the "kick drum" that URGGGS me to no end. It sounds so far out of place it doesn't even speak the same language of the song.
  11. Ditto. The album versions are mostly crap compared to the live versions, so I concur.
  12. The drum beat of this song epitomizes the problems I have with Coldplay's so-called "new direction." I mean, the song is fucking great! I enjoyed it to no end in the ACL performance and enjoy it nearly as much in the album version but honestly, drop the fucking computer guys (Coldplay)!>!>!>! What in the world is wrong with the kick drum on your set Will!?! huh!? I love Coldplay and they clearly have a vision for their music but what is wrong with just taking a few guitars, a drum set, piano, and mic and locking it in a room with the guys and let them have at it. I'm sick of this computerized shit they (and many MANY other bands) are resorting to. It is their music though, afterall, so its only my opinion but these guys are capable of making some damn good music without having to use all this filler crap they have oversaturated this album with. Bleh! My two cents. lol

  14. What's the other link? I am listening to NDR right now..but what is the other station?
  15. Hurts Like Heaven...finally a studio effort worth its change!!!! :)
  16. Also, all of the sudden I like ETIAW and Paradise just a little bit more... :stunned: EDIT: I may have to compile my own 'Mylo Xyloto' of the live cuts from the festivals or something, because I just am NOT digging this stuff.
  17. It sounds more like a remix than an LP track.
  18. Where did you get a video of me and my sister!?!?
  19. Whoa, had a bit of computer-fart. I quadriposted on another thread. My bad.
