  1. The jokes were mainly for you, to cheer you up. Maybe ask him to a gig if he likes the same stuff as you? Just say "So and so are touring, do you like them?"
  2. Hey ICCP, what do I call you? :) And Kat, what music does he like? I have quite a few music jokes you could share with him. How many Smiths fans does it take to change a lighbulb? None. They have a light and it never goes out. (For fans of Blur) Knock knock Who's there? Woo Woo who? When I feel heavy metal! For fans of Madness: What's the first sign of Madness? Suggs walking up your driveway. What does Morrissey have on his toast? I don't know. But Johnny Marmite... My laptop keeps playing Rolling in the Deep. I think it's a Dell. Doctor Doctor, I can't stop singing the Green Green Grass of Home. Ahh that sounds like Tom Jones syndrome. Is it common? Well, It's Not Unusual...
  3. Hi George. What I'm about to say, I apologise for, as you might not like it very much, but I think you should read it anyway. Everyone on this forum would love to meet the band for one reason or another, and we'd all like signed pictures or autographs. But they're entitled to their privacy. The reason they don't disclose the location of the Bakery is because they don't want fans descending upon them when they're trying to work. I read an interview of Chris in the Bakery and Gwyneth turned up with their two kids. Chris especially is a very private person around his family, and has even gone as far as punching a photographer, who tried to snap them as they left a hospital. There's a time and a place for everything, and I think when it comes to meeting Coldplay, chance is simply the best time and place. I really don't think it's best to disturb anyone at work, let alone one of the most hard-working bands on Earth.
  4. Go ahead, then. :dozey:
  5. Hey Céline! That's a gorgeous name. I get that. I've known people I've either wanted to be with or not know. But Kat's said she's friends with this guy, and they seem to get along well. I hope that no matter what, she can stay friends at least.
  6. So what if she does only like positive stories? That's her choice. Her point was only that she doesn't want to read about self-pity. I don't blame her.
  7. This ^ Do it Kat!
  8. Don't worry, I think I know what you mean. No one likes the kind of misery memoirs that you see on the shelf called "Daddy, Please Don't", about how the author has had a terrible upbringing. Same goes for Twilight, all she ever does is moan. They're not fun to read, and hey, it's nothing against whoever's had a bad start to life, but there are better ways of channelling your demons. Writing something entertaining, gripping and exciting is possible, no matter the subject. As I mentioned earlier, Anne Frank's diary is a perfect example of a brilliant book of bleakness. Let's lay off Molly now? She's entitled to her opinions.
  9. What I love about it is the density and delicacy in equal part. The colossal bass drops juxtaposed against the simplistic acoustic guitar. If dubstep sounded like that, I think less people would have beef with it.
  10. 17 and writing an autobiography??? Why not put your thoughts and stories down as memoirs instead? The idea of a teenager's autobiography is not a popular one, maybe try and be subversive with your form...?
  11. I think you should tell him you like him, regardless of who he's seeing, because there might be a chance it's early days. He might like you back, you really do never know. But then I'm one of those people who tells you exactly how I feel, even if it's totally inappropriate, so I'd double-check with someone more responsible :P
  12. The band are currently in the Mojave Desert, having just started sessions for the fifth record. The album is set to take a heavier turn, in the vein of Evil Twin, You and I and R U Mine?. Joshua Homme is likely to take producer duties again, though the band have also expressed interest at recording another album back in Sheffield.
  13. Find out. Just ask one of your mutual friends. And if nothing's confirmed then tell him. Drunk people tend to hug other drunk people, though...
  14. It's Mark :D mrkjhnwht is my name without the vowels, Mark John White. I thought it was obvious when I made the account, but no one's ever got it :P Following on from this, the other thing that I'd say is that it's not so bad to still be friends is it? You've not lost him, at least. He's just with someone else, but he's still your friend.
  15. Somebody like Anne Frank didn't feel sorry for herself though. It would've been a worse read if she had have. See where I'm coming from?
  16. I feel alone too. It'll be okay though. Things will get better. Just... be confident. Because you're lovely. And from one thread, how many people said "Don't go for it Kat, he's too good for you!" None. That's how many. So put some sad songs on, feel sad, cry, etc. But tomorrow, put Hurts Like Heaven on, pick yourself up and start again. Because you're not the odd one out, they are.
  17. Okay, I can't find a thread for this band, so I'm starting one. Am I really the only fan? Basement Jaxx were formed in the mid-90s by Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton, two producers and DJs from Brixton, London. The band were part of a wave of dance music in the late 90s, influenced by Chicago house, and they had early hits with Red Alert, Rendez Vu and Bingo Bango. 2001 and 2003 records Rooty and Kish Kash respectively were nominated for the Mercury prize, and the latter won a Grammy in 2004. In 2005, the duo headlined Glastonbury, and to date, they have worked with such recognized names as Yoko Ono, Dizzee Rascal, Lily Allen, Paloma Faith, Kelis, Sam Sparro, JC Chasez and Robyn. I believe they're one of the most exciting dance acts of the last decade. They're colourful, ambitious and influential. They're the sound of multicultural London at the turn of the millennium and they have an almost unique sound. Song from each album...
  18. Erm, why is it fake? If that question doesn't open a can of worms...
  19. Awww Kat :( I was with a girl for seven months, and I thought she was really special. She dumped me because she didn't feel the same anymore and started seeing other guys almost straight away, and I felt the same as you do now. Like you're not good enough. But it's not true. Maybe he did like you. Maybe he did find you attractive. I know you're going to feel down no matter what, but don't ever go round thinking that you're not good enough. Because it's all subjective. I don't know about you, but I don't think we should put people into categories and leave them there to be found :) It might be the end of this, but something new and exciting will start soon.

That's really good. The only thing I would say is that you should concentrate on concrete images a little bit more. Focus on symbols and signs that show your meanings. That way, a reader can picture what you're saying in their head.
  21. Love the hat. What superstitions do you have?
  22. You'll be okay, Kat. It feels horrible now, but it will get better. Please don't feel too down about it :( You don't know for certain, so until you do, stay positive, but if he is seeing someone else, it's not a reflection on you. It's his loss, it really is. You're lovely, and you'll find someone lovely too, it just wasn't meant to be. <3
  23. You do realise, the entire forum is going to badger you day and night about this? :D
  24. It's very filmic. If they'd have carried the cinematic vibe of Supremacy throughout the record and into Isolated System, it could have been one of the records of the year. Just my opinion.

I wrote these recently, which'll probably end up as song lyrics. We’ll climb to the hilltop late at night as fireworks bubble across the moon; We watch them simmer and swoon If the sky is not star-strewn enough I’ll draw a thousand asterisks Shape and twist our own idea of bliss We’ll be the last ones to the party but the first ones to leave On New Year’s Eve We’ll watched the sun repaint the city From black to frosted blue Sober up, abandon all we knew That cross around your neck dark hair that falls so perfectly I’m yours, if you want me I’d rather sit with you and watch the comets interweave On New Year’s Eve
