Is it me or do you disagree with everything I say? - Because it's 2012. - Because no one is releasing albums as good as that anymore. - Because rock is dying, and are Coldplay of all bands really going to change that? - Because the band have claimed to be happy in their own skin, and don't care what people think of them anymore, which is when they deliver worse albums. - Because there's seemingly nowhere left for them to go - hence people think they should go acoustic. - Because as I said, no one releases albums as good as that 15 years into their career. Okay, U2, who else? Radiohead? Muse? Led Zeppelin? The Who? Oasis? No, no, no, no, no. - Because so many people, myself included, think Coldplay's best work's behind them. - Because Coldplay still have a self-imposed obligation to appeal to the masses. - Because the band aren't likely to be as decisive as to force a brave new direction. I don't think it won't be a good album - by Mylo Xyloto standards anyway - I just think people have to accept that the days of Old Coldplay are behind them. The odds are stacked against them producing a masterpiece, that's all.

What are the chances of Coldplay releasing an album that good?

You think? I think The 2nd Law will be another disappointment. It's just the way it goes. All bands have glory days and then slide slightly. Oasis, Led Zeppelin, U2 but to name a few. Muse and Coldplay both have their heydays behind them I feel. Anything we get from now on is nice, but I can't think of a single band that have delivered their best album 15 or so years into their career.

I love them so much too, but there's nothing being taken away. They're still put out new stuff, they're not tainting themselves for me.

I know a lot of people don't like the latest album, but there aren't many bands that I completely lose interest in, I don't know about anyone else. I have preferred albums, of course though. I think a lot of people see their relationship with Coldplay as like a marriage. Like they're ready to split if Coldplay keep bringing strays in like Rihanna and Jay-Z. Don't know about anyone else, but I'm in an open relationship with the band :P

Glastonbury 2013
Kasabian aren't big enough or good enough yet. They're headlining other festivals by process of elimination.

iTunes Getting Rid of Ping!?!?
I'm not surprised Ping's gone. Apple need to start integrating apps into Facebook for the company to expand in the social networking world... just as Spotify and Last.fm have.

We're still living in your shadow at the moment. Hopefully with the Olympic effect, we'll have another Cool Britannia moment soon, but I can't see it happening under our dictatorship of a government. We still have bands coming through. The XX, The Vaccines, Two Door Cinema Club, Alt-J, Django Django, Metronomy, The Horrors, Tribes, Spector... indie's just not in at the moment, but we're working on it :P

TIPS for keyboard player
Go on YouTube and look for tutorials of your favourite songs. Study them hard. You'll naturally pick up the idea of how most songs are played. Then learn more, and more. But most of all, enjoy it.

Noel Gallagher
I think he's afraid. Out of all music's visionaries, he's the least ambitious. Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants still scars him, I think. And judging by the way he's talking, we're not gonna get anything more of this collaboration :bigcry::bigcry::bigcry:

I'll put that setlist in my pipe and smoke then.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Possible setlist that I'd hope for (with only the new ones we know): (Prelude) Survival Muscle Museum Hysteria Stockholm Syndrome Bliss Unintended Madness Uprising New Born Citizen Erased Butterflies and Hurricanes Map of the Problematique Thoughts of a Dying Atheist Blackout Map of Your Head Invincible Megalomania Unsustainable Hyper Chondriac Music Knights of Cydonia Showbiz: 2 Origin: 4 Absolution: 5 Black Holes: 2 The Resistance: 1 The 2nd Law: 3 + Prelude B-Sides: 2

Unsustainable as encore opener. Betcha.

Guys... is the Amorphous Androgynous album coming out?

It's almost futile talking about them going in a "pop" direction, because who knows what pop will sound like in 2015? In 2008, there was still rock in the charts, it was still a driving force, and Violet Hill was at home in that chart. Fast forward to 2011, nothing, so who knows what it'll be like when the next album's out. Jazz-dubstep could be in by then :P

You think? I reckon UFO was one of the first in production, same with Up With The Birds, though obviously, that one's two songs in one. This is what every band in the world does, I reeeally don't know why people are calling for LP6 to sound like the old stuff. To paraphrase Jay-Z, "If you like my old shit, buy my old album."

Yep. And they've gone through the stratosphere as a live act, as a result.

I totally get you. You're right. We need music forever, not for one night. But I agree with Superfitz a little more. It's about the balance, and an acoustic album is clearly not the right direction for a band of Coldplay's stature to head in after a upwards trajectory of Parachutes, A Rush of Blood, X&Y, Viva, MX. I also get you too. The biggest they ever tried to go was X&Y and I fucking hated it. :P But as huge as MX is, it's not self-indulgent. Every Teardrop could easily go on for another minute and milk that glorious ending. Paradise could bring the chorus sooner and loop it to death. Princess of China only has one chorus. No track excedes four minutes, and the album is only about 42, infamously. They may be huger than huge, but it's not like they're it's an unnatural fit. If you want something that's desperately big, listen to Glasvegas's last album. That's just embarrassing.

The Offical "The Killers" Thread
I was chatting to a friend earlier, an avid Killers fan, and we both agreed that Battle Born is their "Let's abandon what made our sound unique and be U2 instead" album. Their X&Y, The Resistance, Only By The Night, as it were. It seems the draw of selling £50 concert tickets was too strong for Flowers and co...

I just wonder how many people calling for a folk or acoustic record have seen Coldplay live in the last couple of years. They're on top of their game, playing the best they ever have, and in the biggest venues they've ever played in. Quieter music does not work in these arenas; Viva La Vida, Paradise, Charlie Brown, Hurts Like Heaven, Lovers In Japan does. Sure, the acousticky section in the middle works, but I'd much rather see classics in this bit. I saw Don't Panic and Warning Sign on this tour, Green Eyes and The Hardest Part on the last. New acoustics just won't be as good, judging by UATW and UIF.

I like Coldplay being Coldplay. I don't want them to be Mumford and Sons :(
