  1. This album keeps getting better and better for me. I listen to nearly every type of music practically, and for me, Prelude/Survival and Unsustainable are effing amazing songs. The problem that has haunted dubstep since the very beginning is that nearly every dubstep song sounds the same. Only few have broken that curse. Chase & Status and Skrillex are a few, and it seems like Muse has too, with actual instruments aswell! Prelude/Survival made the past 16 days awesome, just one of many reasons why this Olympiad is one of the best and most spectacular in history. Looking forward to Madness and The 2nd Law, and if we're lucky, more promo singles like Unsustainable, and if we're extremely lucky, a few leaks!
  2. In My Place - 10th Anniversary - August 6, 2012 The lead single is the absolute definite, most important tool in the promotion of an album. Tradition since the 70s, lead singles are the best way to show off the colors of your new album, whether it be a week away, or a whole year away from release. In this case, three weeks before the release of their soon-to-be acclaimed A Rush of Blood to the Head. Although the music video for the single had in fact been released a whole two months earlier on June 17, 2002, the single itself was released alot later, in what seems to be a quick money grab for the band and Parlophone before the album came out, rather than a celebration of their album. 10 Years, 3 Studio Albums, 24 Singles and millions of records sold later, "In My Place" is still being regarded as one of the best songs to ever come out of the now world famous Coldplay. Amongst the general crowd, "In My Place" is a legend. One of those songs that you've heard a million times, but have no idea what the name is, or who plays it. In sharp contrast, Coldplayers never forget this song. In another sharp contrast, the single boasted two B-sides. "One I Love" and "I Bloom Blaum"'s critical acclaim was the polar opposite of "In My Place". One of mass shitstorms and fireballs. In a weird and sad sort of legacy, "I Bloom Blaum" is still to this day, cited as one of the worst Coldplay songs. "In My Place" has since charted at #1 only in Poland, which, let's be honest, the easiest market to dip into. In the UK it charted at #2, being certified Gold there, and no certifications in the US, but managing to peak on the alternative chart at #17, while bubbling under the Billboard 200 at #17. The song had also won the band's first ever Grammy award, for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal (2003). "In My Place" made it's live debut at the 2002 Glastonbury Festival, host to some of the greatest concerts in history. Roger Waters finally sang "The Fletcher Memorial Home" for the very first time to the delight of many Roger and Pink Floyd fans around the world, and let's not even mention Rod Stewart's legendary performance at Glasto '02, but there was a performance that topped them all. Coldplay. Bashing out songs that never have been heard before, like "Politik", a heart-stopping opener from a band known for playing very soft songs like the Parachutes album. Overall, though, the song that we still carry in our heads from Glasto was "In My Place". A song we've never forgotten since that night. A song we never will forget. Join me in celebration of one of the best songs to ever come out of Coldplay. This is "In My Place" [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEoHFzEmld0]In My Place[/ame]
  3. Taller than Shawn Bradley. Why did Coldplay never play Twisted Logic on a tour named after the song?
  4. Trivia Did you know that the artwork for A Rush of Blood was originally meant to be inverted colors? Does Rush look better in black? I personally think so.
  5. I think i've already done this back in february, but who cares! Hearrrrrrrrrttt
  6. ^ That would be an amazing idea! With single re-issues too!
  7. At this point in time, Coldplay were an cult band. Living off the mild success of their debut studio album, 2000's Parachutes, they gained alot of attention as being the next big rock act. As the media shone the spotlight on major releases such as U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind, Radiohead's Amnesiac, and Muse's legendary Origin of Symmetry, Coldplay didn't seem like a big contender in the game of thrones, but then again they weren't really aiming for that to begin with. The band's hopes relied on them recording their second studio album for Parlophone, and they did so in a relatively quiet fashion, setting a release date for the follow-up to the acoustically centered Parachutes for August 26, 2002. 10 Years, 3 Studio Albums, 24 Singles and millions of records sold later, A Rush of Blood to the Head, Coldplay's legendary second studio album, has been cited as one of the greatest albums of the decade. It's legacy is one that not many albums of the past 10 years has achieved. Amongst Coldplayers, this album is practically a religion, and amongst alternative rock fans like myself, one that should never be left unheard. Since it's release in 2002, it has won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album (2003), Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "In My Place" (2003) and for Record of the Year for "Clocks" (2004). It earned them Best British Album of the Year athe the BRIT Awards (2003) and was selected as Q's album of the year for 2002. So far, it has reached #1 in 10 countries and #1 on the European chart, also reaching a peak of #5 on the Billboard 200. It has been certified 9x Platinum in the UK, 4x Platinum in the US and 7x Platinum in Australia, with accumulative sales of 2.7 million units in the UK and over 15 million worldwide. It currently has a score of 80 on Metacritic and a user score of 8.6. A Rush of Blood to the Head has also been chosen as Billboard's Critic's Choice for 2002, and was nominated for the BRIT Award for Album of 30 Years at the 2010 awards. It placed #21 on Rolling Stone's Top 100 albums of the 2000s and #466 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums. Join me in celebrating the 10th anniversary of one of the greatest albums of our time. 8. To this day I still find that mysterious Up With The Birds / U.F.O. artwork very intriguing.

  15. When the single release is officially announced.
  16. Gee, never heard of that song before...
  17. Brent and Minus from The LPA forums should meet eachother one day. That would change the world!
  18. This is brilliant! The single edit actually isn't the same as the starbucks single. The ending bit has been cut short, and the last instrumental solo cuts into Chris' last "youuu" yell.
  19. They should really need to get more songs from Rush of Blood on the set list, considering it is the 10th anniversary next month! Warning Sign is just brilliant on the MX Tour and I would love to see more songs played.
  20. She was wearing Japanese style clothing in the music video.
  21. I think the Starbucks single IS the single edit. I'll eat my hat if it isn't. I think this comic is just uber awesome, although personally, if coldplay had stuck with the double album idea, they would have fit enough in so that the story of the comic would at least have been passed through correctly. Even though this is supposed to be the story of the album, i'm still going to stick with boy meets girl, graffiti and japanese rihanna. If I were coldplay though, i would hold off releasing HLH for now, unless I'd like to be absolutely stomped on by Linkin Park's Lost In the Echo and the next single from Talk That Talk.
