Anyone else heard about snow patrol playing at the Olympics opening ceremony this year? How do you guys feel about this? I'm not the biggest fan but I like a few of their songs so I will definitely be watching!

Getting rid of Lost! in favour of Lovers in Japan was a smart move in my opinion. Lovers is just so much better live. Yes, I'm sad that Politik seems to have been dropped, but they don't have to play it, and instead they're playing DLIBYH which is just as good from what I've seen. Shiver hasn't been played consistently since the AROBTTH tour, so any live performance of it nowadays is a rare thing anyway. I would be much more concerned if they replaced Yellow for example, but we all know that's never going to happen.

If they're performing with Rihanna then I would hope they do the full version. I mean they've already started playing it on the tour, the only difference will be Rihanna will actually be there rather than on the screen.

When you're so desperate to see them live that you ask someone you haven't spoken to in ages if they would sell you their tickets after they post on Facebook that they might not be able to go to their concert!

I like No Line as well :) My favourites from it are NLOTH, Magnificent and Unknown Caller. I think now I've made my mind up about each one I would rank the albums in this order: 1. The Joshua Tree 2. Achtung Baby 3. The Unforgettable Fire 4. War 5. No Line On The Horizon 6. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb 7. Boy 8. Zooropa 9. All That You Can't Leave Behind 10. Rattle & Hum 11. October 12. Pop At least I think that's right :thinking:

I just wish that people wouldn't assume that because they don't like a song, everybody else doesn't like it was well. Princess of China will inevitably be a successful single, and I would imagine that a strong proportion of the live audiences are people who will be there mainly just to hear the singles and so would be disappointed not to hear PoC. Likewise, those people would probably want to hear the song the way they know it, i.e. with Rihanna, and having a video of her allows that. It may be awkward but it's a better alternative than half the audience leaving the concert disappointed that they didn't hear Princess of China.

^I had a similar dream a little while ago. They were playing a new song (which Chris announced as Car Kids :bomb:) which featured them playing some weird instruments. I believe Guy was playing upright bass, while Jonny was playing some strange instrument I can't remember. Chris was playing the piano but for some reason he was hitting the keys with drumsticks so they kept breaking. :wtf: Will was hitting the drums with special drumsticks that shot fireworks out every time he hit the drums which was pretty amazing :awesome:

I think the main reason is that it would be difficult to do. It's got all those weird 'ooh' sounds and stuff, which would be difficult to recreate live without extensive use of backing tracks. I believe there was an interview last year where Chris said something like: "There's a new song called Up With The Birds and I have no idea how we're going to pull that off live" so I expect we probably won't hear a live version of it any time soon :(

Looking back, I'm surprised they didn't play 42 seeing as it was 4/20...

Having now given every U2 album a good listen, I actually think I like HTDAAB more than ATYCLB... The first 4 or 5 songs of the latter are great, but after that it becomes a bit of a snooze-fest. HTDAAB, however, is a lot more consistent in my opinion. It may not have any truly 'classic' U2 songs (COBL and SYCMIOYO being the exceptions) but most of the songs are at least a bit catchy or memorable, which can't be said for much of ATYCLB.
