Growing up in the 90s, I can say this is 100% false. The 90s will always be synonymous with hip hop and R&B. If I was forced to pick the world's biggest band of this era, it would easily be U2. Their Zoo TV and PopMart tours were just massive. Now I've said this before but the 1990s music scene is criminally underrated by so many people. In fact, the 90s have to be the most interesting period for music. You saw the peak of the shoegaze scene with seminal albums from My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Ride. You had the Grunge acts like Nirvana and Pearl Jam and the subsequent response to Grunge music with Britpop acts, such as Blur, Oasis, Pulp and Suede. You had the Indie Rock scene really blossoming with the successes of bands like Flaming Lips and Pavement. You saw punk pop becoming popular with acts like Green Day and Weezer. Not to mention the Alternative Music scene becoming popular with bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Smashing Pumpkins (I still remember watching the latter's cameo in an episode of the Simpsons). You saw the development of IDM with acts like Aphex Twin, Autechre and Squarepusher. You saw the refinement of electronic music with albums from the likes of Boards of Canada and others. You saw the origin of Trip Hop with acts like Massive Attack + Portishead. We had Björk take the mantle from Kate Bush as the best (and most eccentric) female artist of her generation. We had Radiohead effectively declare themselves as the Best Band in the World in 1997 with the release of OK Computer. We then saw the explosion of Radiohead inspired acts, laying the foundation to acts like Coldplay, Muse and Travis. Now for those of you who actually managed to get to this point, you're probably wondering what was the point of that long (and unnecessary) post? It's just to serve as a reminder to respect the 1990s. It wasn't just a period of oversized shirts you know :hippy:

These "activists" broke into City Hall, where they burned flags, broke into an electrical box and damaged several art structures, including a recycled art exhibit created by children. These "people" are not protestors. They are not activists. They are cowards - notice how they hide their faces while causing nothing but destruction to the community. Shame on both of you trying to excuse their behaviors by insinuating these were simply the actions of some "operatives."

Right, it couldn't technically finish #1 but I thought it would be the undisputed #1 pick after all the votes were counted and the points were added up. But interestingly enough, Mylo Xyloto didn't 1) receive the most votes; or 2) accumulate the most points. And that's why the results were so shocking to me.

Genuinely shocked that Coldplay finished #3. I mean I thought from the beginning that they would be #1 because this is a Coldplay forum but wow :stunned: Mylo Xyloto even finished behind The King of Limbs :o

Absolutely agree. I like the album but I certainly don't love it. And I suspect this won't change after I listen to it more. That being said, I think it's a pretty good album to start off 2012.

I wish there was a better method of tallying up the results. It doesn't seem right to me that one song might be ranked above another just because it got more mentions. For example, the #23 song Ordinary Things had an average position of 2.5. Yet it still finished behind a song like Surgeon, only because the latter received more votes. I'll be the first to let you know if I come up with an alternate method :awesome:

Yeah, I mean shouldn't Grouper + James Blake both be listed #303 following the #304 song. Then list would continue at #301 would be Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood & DOOM. Ultimately, it doesn't even affect the rankings at all. Just my OCD tendencies. :P

Looks really good so far! :dance: Although I think there is some error with the numbering of the songs. For example, there's a tie at #305 (Atlas Sound + Jamie Hartman). The next song should then theoretically be #303 right?
