  1. I think they are going to keep tweaking the setlist slightly. We saw them do a Biutyful outro that is now gone. We saw the Coloratura (now shortened after being brought back) experimentation, Bani Adam is gone, Sparks has a new drum intro, etc. I think there will be a few new changes throughout Mexico as they dial the show in. I'm glad Hymn for the Weekend is in there though. Orphans looks like it'll be rotated. The C stage needs 3 songs instead of 2, though.
  2. Love the version of Yellow. This is a great release. I just wish they had included Violet Hill on it.
  3. I guess NYC unfortunately. I finally got semi excited they might come to the southeast USA for something like this but that's just silly to think they'd do it in Atlanta or something. They play NYC a lot so it's probably there.
  4. Yeah the lower bowl being the same as the floor is weird. The VIP doesn't have a M&G does it?
  5. I justify it because they didn't tour at all for Ghost Stories (LOVE the album, literally love) and I haven't seen them in 4 (!) years. Face it - they won't be around forever and they're getting older. Maybe this is their last album, maybe not. Maybe they'll even come to Atlanta next year. Will I complain about the ticket prices in 10 years? No, certainly not. I'll look back and say WOW, those guys were in fantastic shape and that was a legendary concert that I'll forever remember. But dang, it does hurt for a little bit haha. I'll be paying these off for a while.
  6. Damn that presale. I swear Ticketmaster saves the really good seats for VIP or Citi card or something. I battled the presale for a good 20 minutes...had 2 phones and 2 computers going. Finally got some I was happy with. 10 hour trip to see this show, the closest to the southeast :furious3: $175 tickets - c'mon Coldplay. Rock acts charge $75~ for great seats - Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, etc. Coldplay is a pop artist now and the ticket prices have just skyrocketed, geeze.
  7. Coming from near Savannah, GA for this. Can't believe there's no Atlanta on the tour - really surprising. After a lengthy battle with the Coldplay presale (2 computers, 2 phones), I got some decent seats in the 100s. REALLY expensive tour....I don't understand $175 tickets. Coldplay is a pop act now, so I guess that justifies them raising the ticket prices. But I'm coming.
  8. I am pretty disappointed they didn't use the momentum from the Super Bowl performance to announce a North American Tour.
  9. Well Adventure Of A Lifetime, Paradise, and Viva La Vida are confirmed. Let's see what else they do. If I had it my way I'd do: Viva Clocks (w/ Bruno) Hymn (w/ Beyonce) Fix You And insane production all around.
  10. http://coldplay.com/extra-shows-announced-for-nyc-chicago-and-la/
  11. I mean arena shows. Many and most large touring bands carry multiple touring rigs. In Coldplay's case, they'll have stadium rigs, maybe just one since they are on the weekend (or maybe two) and they'll have arena rigs. I expect them to play arenas in the middle of the week. You are right that they can't play stadium shows all week long as the setup and takedown time is just too big. Multiple rigs of gear is how Taylor Swift was able to play Atlanta in a stadium followed directly by arenas in Florida. Linkin Park uses multiple touring rigs to play Germany one day and England the next. Or a more extreme example, Portugal one day and Denmark the next.
  12. I don't know if they'll add more or what. I'm surprised they are adding night 2's but I guess the sales so far have been great. They really must be thinking the Super Bowl will push sales big time. There are still no shows in the middle of the week. If they add 3 shows in the middle of each week, that's 15 shows and then there is a 2 week gap between Philly and LA. They could add potentially 8 shows there. They have room in the United States and Canada for 21-23 shows if they take advantage of the middle of the weeks. That's pretty extensive, but they are here in the U.S. from early July to early September.

  16. They are adding second shows in some cities. http://www.ticketmaster.com/Coldplay-tickets/artist/806431?tm_link=edp_Artist_Name East Rutherford, Chicago, Pasadena. Holy shit.
  17. Ok I'm not the type to be negative about things since I LOVE Coldplay, but wow this announcement is very shocking to me. I was REALLY looking forward to this tour announcement for quite a few months. When Muse completely skipped the southeast USA on this world tour, I said no worries, Coldplay will be coming (two of my top bands). The hype for my friends and I was way bigger than normal due to no Ghost Stories tour too. With all the teasing and hyping, they announced South America...Europe...still no USA even after the album was released. I thought they then might announce a tour around the time of the Super Bowl. Finally the USA dates come and we get 7 stadium shows. What kind of "tour" is that? Not a single show in the southeast USA...nothing. Nothing under an 11 hour drive. I hate to pessimistic but that's a true slap in the face. I'd go to Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, etc to see Coldplay...and there's nothing down here. And that's after not a single show in the region since July 2012. They only want to play on Saturdays or something? Four shows in London but they can't return to one of their self-proclaimed "favorite cities" down here? Atlanta has supported Coldplay big time from the start...most recently 3 shows on the Viva tour and 2 for Mylo. I don't understand why they wouldn't play here for the new album, but the term "disappointing" is about as big of an understatement as it gets. Try devastated. with no Ghost Stories and A Head Full of Dreams, maybe they'll play here for the next album.
  18. I hope they announce them before the Super Bowl so the tickets aren't insane ASAP.
  19. Excitement over Coldplay playing the Super Bowl: Maybe a 3 out of 10 Excitement over Coldplay announced a North American Tour AFTER the Super Bowl: 300 out of 10 :drinking:
  20. Exactly! I've seen shows from bands I disliked the studio stuff, but they are exceptional live performers and make the songs truly come alive. Also, I've seen a few of the opposite...good studio material but not good live.
  21. Wow you're right, I'm sorry. I never knew the exact time length of DAAHF since The Escapist is at the end on the album; I always assumed it was over 4 minutes in length easily and maybe approached 5. It's really 3:38! Dang! So do they have just one long song, Up&Up? For such talented songwriters you'd think they'd have a few 6+ minute songs.
  22. Yes. Up&Up is a song they did a good job on. Their best one is Death and All His Friends, in my opinion. I don't like Chris's comment about the new album where he says they wrote longer songs but Stargate shortened them down. If a song wants to be long, let it be long. They are good songwriters most of the time and know what they're doing, Coldplay doesn't need an outside influence to shorten their tracks.
  23. I wondered the same when I heard the new album. The songwriting is beyond terrible to me on MOST tracks. I immediately went back and listened to Parachutes. I feel like they were at their height with songwriting in the Parachutes/A Rush of Blood era and again in the Viva era. Ghost Stories is quite enjoyable to me but I really dislike the new album; it angers me more that they didn't tour for Ghost Stories and they went right in to record this album.
  24. They typically play 18-19 songs so I'll keep that in mind. This is the one I'd want to see. Well, maybe with Spies and some others in there but I could have a blast to this during a show. Midnight opening because I loved how Foo Fighters opened with Let It Die in 2008, then Coldplay could blow it up with Hymn For the Weekend. The two B Stage songs are two of my favorites. And there's more Ghost Stories in there than they play now because they didn't do a real Ghost Stories tour. 01. Midnight 02. Hymn For the Weekend 03. Viva La Vida 04. MMIX 05. Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall 06. Talk 07. Ink 08. Fun 09. Another's Arms 10. Magic 11. The Scientist - B Stage - 12. Sparks 13. O (Fly On) 14. Charlie Brown 15. Square One ------------------------- 16. Violet Hill 17. Clocks 18. Fix You 19. Death and All His Friends
  25. I'll make one tomorrow but I really want them to play more from Ghost Stories than they are playing right now at these promo shows. They didn't do a real Ghost Stories tour (what a shame!) and I'd be sad to miss those songs. There's no chance I'll ever see O live, but I can always hope.
