[25-Apr] E-Werk, Cologne, Germany - Links in 1st post -SHOW TIME 9PM (GERMAN TIME)
"Please don't put it on YouTube" - One Year ago Today: Coldplay kicks off mini Ghost Stories World Tour with show in Cologne and premiers "A Sky Full Of Stars" It was a warm, some may even say hot, spring day - the 25th April 2014. Coldplay fans all around the world waited for this day for quite a while. The first real concert since the end of the MX stadium shows. After all the excitement and waiting for Ghost Stories it was finally time for the guys to hit the stage again. And since the first hour of the show was broadcasted on german radio 1live, fans everywhere in the world had the chance to hear what was going on in a small, i don't even know what to call it - lets just say building, filled with 2000 fans who were lucky enough to "win" a ticket in general sale or literally won a ticket on the before mentioned radio station. The minute the show kicked off with "Always in my head" it became not just clear to me but to everyone else. All the fighting for tickets the past week was worth it. After the second song "Charlie Brown", and the guys rocking the small stage, the air in the building was even hotter (if that's possible). The Setlist also featured "Paradise" from MX, classics like "Clocks", "Fix You", "Viva la Vida" and others. With only about 2000 people in the building everyone was right in front of Chris, Guy or Jonny. I don't think you can get any closer during a concert. Front row seats for everyone. After 60 minutes the "official" part of the concert ended with "ETIAW" and after that it was just us, no more radio, only 2000 lucky people. No one listening in Australia, Brazil or somewhere else in the world. Time for coldplay to give everyone a very special treat that made the night even more unique. The world premiere of "A Sky Full Of Stars" only for the privileged people in the E-Wark Cologne. Oh boy, what a special memory to have. Being among the first people ever to hear a new song. You don't have that very often. That and the extreme private feeling of this show made it so unique like no other. With (probably) an upcoming arena tour at the end of this year and likely a huge stadium tour next year you really appreciate this chance to get up close even more. Even tough i can't wait to stand in the middle of 50.000 people and feel the very special atmosphere of that moment, i really liked the atmosphere back then, a year ago, when coldplay performed in front of only a couple of thousand fans in cologne and i had the privilege to be one of them. Certainly a hot spring day i will never forget. Happy One Year Anniversary! :drinking:

Glastonbury Festival 2015
Regarding lolla berlin That would mean they would have booked coldplay as one of the first bands a long time ago, i don't see it happening.

Probably not in the very near future. Somewhere someone said the "Why Not People" gig will kickoff their tour (not sure if reliable source)

Jay Z to Start own subscription service "Tidal" Chris Martin attends via Satellite
I guess its the audio quality and HD videos. For 20$/Month you get all the music streamed in lossless instead of 320 kb. Not sure though if this is the big advantage that i would pay 20$ for.

Germanwings Airbus crashes in French Alps, 150 dead
I don't think age has something to do with it. These days planes get checked and if necessary repaired on a regular basis. In fact i once heard a pilot somewhere, saying that he would prefer an old regular checked plane to a brand-new one. Probably because it has proven for the last two decades that it is functioning as it should be. This exact plane was checked yesterday according to multiple sources. Makes you wonder if it could have something to do with that (would be the most obvious right now) You can clearly see they started an unusual descent. It's a bit weird though because if you have a problem and need to descent you would turn around and fly away from the mountains, not straight toward them. I could imagine they had some sort of hydraulic problem / had no control of the airplane anymore or the pilots lost consciousness for some reason. If they would have had control and would have been able to fly the plane in a normal way, they would have done some course correction at some point. No one just flies straight into a mountain on a good weather day. EDIT: According to a german news article the plane was grounded yesterday because of a problem with the nose landing gear door. Could be a hint to a possible sudden depressurization at cruising altitude (would explain the descent and could lead to loosing you consciousness, although there should be an emergency oxygen system to avoid that)

Germanwings Airbus crashes in French Alps, 150 dead
I was shocked when i first heard it on the radio earlier today. Don't know why but this one really gets to me. Maybe because its a german airline and they were heading to an airport i've been to and traveled from many times.

Reminds me of the King of Queens episode where doug, carrie, deacon and his wife go on a weekend trip to "apple country" and look at how cider is made. :D

Is it just me or is this board getting quieter with each passing day? You can count the number of posts today even if the highest number you know is 11.

Well, it was a small acoustic show. I've no idea how their normal sized shows look and sound like but they for sure know how to make music and perform live. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.

Indeed, i'm not the biggest fan of them but since it was free i figured, why not go. About 7000 people showed up and they delivered a great 45 min set. They took requests from the fans and even did one or two covers of songs i've heard before but have no idea what they are called. Also the gig reminded me a lot of the coldplay BBC gig during the Viva era. It was right next to the town hall and the people who work in there were standing at the windows and stuff.
