  1. Just had a listen... as an album it's just bad. Two or three songs are really good but everything else is just pointless pop I just cannot connect to. Where is the red threat throughout the album, I mean MUSICALLY? They are so desperate to SOUND like somebody else that they have forgotten to be just Coldplay. Why using commercial pop producers and why so many collaborations? Why not just making good music with RAW instruments. I love X&Y just for that! I know the band love what they do now and I don't want to tell them what to do. That's not my right. But I can say that as a long time fan I feel sorry to have lost Coldplay as a favorite band.
  2. I know what you mean, but EL has a theme that it follows: the world and how it feels these times... love, war, racism... the album is like getting on a plane and visit different places on this planet. A great example for a real scifi themed album is an album called "Dimensionaut" from Sound of Contact. Strong themes, great drums and goosebumps all over. Get a listen to it on Youtube.
  3. I guess there are no more unreleased songs from this era? Damn, there were so many great B-Sides between AROBTTH and X&Y...
  4. That was my 2nd Coldplay after the MX tour and yet I was very high up the ranks on the side it was an amazing show! I´m still hoping for Brothers & Sisters some far day... I was very moved by the David Bowie tribute, I was shocked that day in January and it´s great to see Coldplay is a Bowie fan, too...
  5. Hey everyone! I wonder how Brothers & Sisters would work live! It should be amazing! Please bring that treasure on stage! kind regards, Gwaihir
  6. You´re right... Muse still is alternative and have a different approach to their music. Perhaps I´m just optimistic that Coldplay one day will return with raw rock music like in the old days. Right now, I can´t stop listening to How I See The World... that explosion of music and emotions at the end... ok I´m getting offtopic ;)
  7. I don´t think so. Yes, there were some very pop-oriented songs on the last two albums in collaboration with other artists (and I´m sure that´s something the company is pushing them to do) but there will be a time they WILL get back to their roots. Muse is doing the same right now... orienting back to very heavy rock music for the 2nd Law successor.
  8. I have a question about the intro to this song. At second 17 it really strikes me everytime as if I hear an error in the audio when the loop suddenly jumps... but why did they do that? It´s sounds bad to my ear... why not "flowing" into the next loop?
  9. Geeez... great stuff! I wonder if someone could contact the uploader if he has a lossless audio track of that! Seems to be studio / broadcast quality at least!

I´m not sure if Coldplay really changed me. But this is a good moment to think about my first time listening to Coldplay and how it developed over the years... Before I heard Coldplay I was deep in the music of Genesis and Marillion, old bands also with deep musical journeys, tales and goose-bumping atmosphere. My first songs I ever heard from Coldplay was The Scientist, Politik and Clocks. It happened instantly that I fell in love with their music. I had some MP3s from them but soon got the entire Rush of Blood album. It was the time when I was together with my then-girldfriend who also liked their music. Rush grew so close to me that I was looking forward to X&Y. I remember people saying that it sounded to much the same like Rush but I disagreed. It was a few years later that I finally bought Parachutes. The atmosphere on it was so warm, so intimate and nothing like I have heard before. And then came the big moment: I started to collect B-Sides... I couldn´t believe there were SO MANY! Crest of Waves, Animals... I have goose-bumps all over me RIGHT NOW just thinking about it! I have never seen a band that has so many unknown non-album tracks that were partly better than the songs on the albums. Then came Viva la Vida with its positive attitude and yet it strikes you to tears, especially when hearing the song Prospekt´s March. The imagery in my head during the verses is like an old movie full of melancholia. There are those goose-bumps again... I couldn´t wait until MX came out and again the colors in the music spread around in my soul. So much energy and positive thoughts! That was also the first time when I saw them live on a concert! I was in Cologne when I realized that I was watching the best concert in my live! So much energy, so much fireworks, paper flying around and the blinking LED strips on all the peoples´arms! The concert was way too short, but so was the MX as an album. I was a bit disappointed about that fact, also that there was only one single B-Side. But even that was worth it! I then found the non-album track "How You See The World" that is still running in my car with the volume up to the max! Then came Ghoststories and I have to admit that I still haven´t hooked up to it yet. I heard it only one time since the release and was a bit disappointed. It sounds too technical and also I´m a drum-lover and there were too many drum machine-like sounds on it. But I´m sure it will grow over time... Did Coldplay changed me? I think they have when you see the many songs that connect seamlessly into my life. They have given me power in hard times, gave me hope when needed it and I just like the goose-bumps on my arms... perhaps because I have split from my girl-friend a while back and want to look into the future now I cannot really connect to Ghoststories yet. Too much reminds me of old times... I hope there will be many many more albums in the future... for the soundtrack of my life...
  11. I never heard of those songs, only The Goldrush and Death Will Never Conquer. Any chance to hear the other songs or are they just documented as existent? Cheers!
  12. What about Don Quixote? Why is there no official recording? Is it from the VLV sessions or inbetween the albums like Christmas Lights?
  13. Ok :( Then on the other side they did release Prospect´s March 6 months after Viva la Vida to bring us some extra tracks. Perhaps... who knows...
  14. Hello folks! Finally made it into this neat forum :) It´s just one year ago that I found out how many B-Sides there are from the previous albums. It was a dream to find soooo many brand new songs from Coldplay after knowing all the albums for so long. But where are the B-Sides from MX? There is only Moving to Mars... the strings at the end give me goosebumps, great atmosphere... but why is it the only extra song so far? cheers, Gwaihir
