well yeah I figured they're pop cuz they're popula,or right british pop/rock. But what about the rest,Is John Mayer,Alanis,Sarah,Rufus and Fiona pop?regardless of the fact that they're mainstream.

I find it hard to define the difference between rock,british rock,pop/rock and alternative,so I'll name a bunch of people and you tell me what genre they fit in,because people ask me what kind of music do you listen to and I don't know what to call it,it's always a singer/songwriter/guitar/piano,anyways people like John Mayer,Coldplay,Alanis Morrissette,Sarah Maclachlan,Fiona Apple,Rufus Wainwright,Travis,etc,you get the idea I guess,they don't all sound alike but I just can't fit them in a certain category,you know rock,pop,folk. Excuse the level of ignorance here,but I figured I'd ask instead of being dumb about it.

Yeah I guess that's the new pop now,I knew this would happen after the last album's success,I'm taking a break from the album too and the song Fix You in particular just in preparation for what's to come,

lol^no not him,there's a big list that could fit in this category but for me it's Asalah...wait right she isn't Egyptian,she's Syrian I think,I do realize that she's hailed as one of the best singers out now,but yeah her voice can give me high blood pressure after a while.

God,I hate when that happens,it happened to me years ago when I had lesser stuff and it devestated me for a while,I can't imagine it happening now when I have more than 40GB worth of stuff,I would not survive :stunned: I guess this teaches you to do backups regularly,sorry for your loss :(

Question about a Verve song. I must have been about 10 at the time and it was 1997 or 1998 and ofcourse I wasn't into decent kinds of music so I don't know the name of this song but I remember that I liked it very much,the video was the verve guy( :P )I mean RICHARD sitting on this ball shaped chair that was popular back then and the camera zoomed into his face and out and the background changed,anyone know the name of this song?

^^I feel you,I'm 17,and I've been aching to get involved in this since I was 12,but yeah I hate that I have to wait too,Just finished Highschool so I'll probably start doing something effective now,alot of people want to help and it's about time we do something instead of crying. God bless Bob Geldof and Bono and all these great people for bringing that much awareness about it and doing what world leaders and politicians have failed miserably at doing.

Warning Sign with no doubt,this song alone made me love them 100X more.

I think singles do destroy the song for me after a while,I mean The Scientist isn't the same after you've heard it everywhere 109472 times,So I'm very glad that tracks like Amsterdam and Warning Sign hid in the album,makes them more special,That's why I'm afraid I'll get sick of Fix You already so I try not to listen to it much. I think there AROBTTH singles were great choices and I wouldn't change any,or Parachutes too,hmm...let's see how they do with X & Y.

the only Guitar I have is the one I got a year ago(was given actually),It's a spanish,so I'm pretty much torturing it by not playing any classical stuff,I swear I feel sometimes like a string will break and hit me in the eye for it,But it's all I could afford at the moment,I should have started on an acoustic one,so you defintely get a good acoustic first.
