Jacob
If this isn't the best movie ever, then it certainly is the best war movie ever, there is no other war movie that has deep meaning like this, very good story and meaning behind the movie. Very well done. I've never seen an action scene done as well as the one when all the helicopters under control by Robert Duval are flying in to bomb the Vietnamese Village. Professor Peedston
Yeah, it's a damn good movie. :) And no, there's no K. :P
CityandColour
No, it's not. I hate it. I saw it, and I pratically fell asleep, and that's odd for me, considering I love war movies. Why the hell did this even get awards?
Professor Peedston
Because it's really more a psychological drama than a typical "war" movie.

Professor Peedston
Yeah there's another war movie that's not really a war movie. :P
Skinned Alive
the one I've seen is the Redux version, which has 49 minutes extra content. And at some points you're sitting there thinking "for the love of God let this scene be over soon". Like the scene where they meet the French settlers - in the Redux version this part is just way too long. The pace can slow right down at precisely the wrong time. I would actually like to see the original version as well to get a comparison. But it is a great film. Not the best I've ever seen, but still one of the best. Jacob
yea. I saw the original version last night, not the Redux, I wonder if the ending is better in the Redux version. And yea, this is my fave war movie because it has substance, it's all about someone reaching their breaking point, and what happens after.

The Redux version is EXACTLY 49 minutes too long. If it was a success in its original version, why to make a longer one? The scene with french people was enterely erased in the original version. I understood it when I saw Redux. ;)
Skinned Alive
The scene with french people was enterely erased in the original version. I understood it when I saw Redux. ;) Oh. I just assumed it was in the original aswell, because it's an important scene which discusses America's motives behind the war. But it's just way too long - they could easily have cut parts out of it and had it half the length without compromising anything in the way of plot.
