Small intro:

Everything began 'cos someone from coldplaying had a signature which I liked very much and I told him that - he had in his signature a picture of a film I saw a couple of weeks ago called Babel - we both loved the film. And to be honest, I don't know how I started to talk about Brokeback Mountain - the fact that deserved to win the Accademy Awards. I didn't agree with the fact that Crash had won the awards as the best film. So then Lana said he was happy 'cos of that... and now we were talking about Crash and its main topic: racism and also about some of its scenes.

 

Well, this month I'm having the final exams - I still have to do 2 more until I finish this exams period. Anyway, I only have to go to uni to do them. I spend the rest of my time studying at my home - something really exciting, huh?! :tongue: I'm glad to know you're having fun in your vacation time. Mine will start next week and will last about a month or so. I really hope I won't be too bored. How about you? How's uni going?

Uni... I will start a new semester on 29th! that until middles of June... so that's really fine!

 

I'm having a good time at vacations, also was studying and reading a little (the first weeks) but I interupted because of my travel (for 10 days) to the coast... (I went to the beach!!) same with excercise so I'm re-taking! hehe

 

I might go out with a friend this afternoon... mi amiga me acompañará a comprar unos zapatos :P y el resto de la semana también saldré con amigos... así q creo no estaré tan aburrido.

Por cierto... hace poco posteé una foto mía en el thread de fotos... salgo re feo pero lo más chistoso fue la estúpida discusión q se armó porq comenté en una foto de Sarah (una chica alemana) q su expresión me recordaba un poco a Angela Merkel... :laugh3: juro no haberlo dicho en mala intención!! pero el maldito de Mark armó tanta cizaña q creo q quedé bastante mal :\

well, I could answer you a little bit saying what I said to Tracie. I haven't experienced that racism, probably because there aren't too many foreign people in my country, and I haven't had a proper contact with the ones who live here . Anyway, I don't think we'd have so many racist problems, in case we'd have had that contact.

 

You could? that's good to know. I wasn't able to understand why that policeman tried to abuse of that woman, who was having fun with her husband while he was driving. Why he stopped them. Why the hell he spoiled that good moment for them. Why he made them feel that bad, specially the woman - and afterwards his husband. Such a jerk. And now, tell me, how am I supposed to put under his shoes?! It was an unbelievable attitude, his one. Only who is as dumb as a post would act that way.

What'd have been very surprising is that BM would have won the awards, specially because it's a gay film but not only 'cos of this, but because of its plot, the way that characters played in the film. The music. The atmosphere. The real life it showed. The love between the main characters.

Aha, i see now. Well it's really good, it's like that there. I thought every community has these issues among them, coz we have it here in Jordan, but as i said before, it's not exactly like in the movie.

 

All the scenes you mentioned are part of the story, Iris. i mean, that the movie wouldn't have been the same without them, and i believe that the police officer did that coz he had a sick mind, there are actually real people like that, honestl i didn't like that secne a lot either but it's a big part of the movie, especially when you see how the officer's charecter progresses and at then end, when he got to save thw women from the crash, i loved that scene, it's such a powerful one imo. And the officer sort of redeemed himself in it, and learned smth! see now this is one of the things i loved about the movie!

And her husband didnt do much, to help her out, he just didn't know what to do, whether to get himself in jail by reacting to it or just let it happen because he didn't want much trouble. see this scene also in particular shows how he had been a very hard situation to decide in, and i think he's mind just blocked during that scene, but he also after what happend couldn't forgive himself for what he did, and thats also very real and part of what each human being goes through in his/her life.

and another thing, Iris. i just dont get, why you have to imagine yourself in there shoes in order to understand it, you can't do that all the time.. with each movie, it's not even possible.

Btw music also had a big part in me loving this movie and thinking it's great.. and for that i uploaded the Oscar nominated song from the movie: In The Deep by Bird York (the lyrics i thought, are aboslutley fantastic). tell me what you think :smiley:
