I mean, if Dan Watts can come back from the dead after 14 years so can Tom and Steve! Let's say Steve managed to escape from the burning car but no one saw him... or Tom wanted to fake his own death so he jumped out of the Slaters house and ran away back home to Ireland leaving Trevor behind and is now getting treatment for his brain tumour.
