March 1, 200323 yr This post is basically the title. i dont think it is fair that we should have to pay all this money and most of it doesnt even go to the real talent it goes to the producers. No wonder we copy cds
March 2, 200323 yr i've taken two music business courses here at school, and what you're saying simply isn't true. the reason most major label cd's cost so much is because they actually cost that much to make. not only do the artists need to get paid from the cd's (usually about $1.20 per copy sold, not 8 cents as many people would have you believe), record labels have to make up costs in promotion (ads in newspapers and such don't get there by themselves), distribution (cd's don't magically sell themselves to every cd store in the world either), and reproduction of the actual cd's, not to mention that record labels usually pay for the artists to spend months in a recording studio to record, produce, mix, and master the album. in fact, only about 10% of major label releases make a profit, the rest just ride on the huge smash hits. unless you buy all your cd's at fye or something, in which case, yes, they are overpriced. :D

I dont get it either, and im sorry Tom, but i just dont think it makes sense. It cant be THAT expensive :shrug:
March 2, 200323 yr they r expensive but the best cds r on sale coz they r old ones!! :D they dont do that in the shops i am in. they now who are the good ones, and how much ppl will pay for them - unfortunately :D
