Alright so today on the radio I heard "Machine Gun" and I didn't know who it was, though I had heard it before. The whole time I was like "holy shit this is a good song." I just kept saying that over and over in my head. Then I found out it was Portishead, and as I stated before, I ONLY know The Rip (which is one of my new all time favorite songs) but it was this song that finally got it into my head that I need to get their latest album.

Bump.

This is one of my favorite Portishead performance/song.

You mean 2003's "Out of season"?

Yes, that is indeed great!

^ Yes, that's what I'm talking about.

Mysteries is just so beautiful. :surprised:

The whole album is great, but Tom The Model is my other favourite besides Mysteries.

A friend gave me this CD after I had listened to Portishead for months in 2003.

I'm still thankful to her for that. :nice:

Anybody ever come across a Porishead CD called "Trip-Hop Reconstruction" from Australia?

Apparently it's a bootleg / unofficial compilation.

Isn't it a remix album or something?

Portishead have revealed that they are set to enter the studio in 2011 to record their fourth album.

Bristol groups don't tend to work on the same timescale as most musicians. Massive Attack took seven years to follow '100th Window' while fellow West Country types Portishead left a ten year gap between albums.

So the news that Portishead are to record new material a mere three years after the release of 'Third' comes as a bit of a surprise. Set to curate new ATP event I'll Be Your Mirror it seems as if the Bristol band have stirred into life.

Speaking to BBC 6Music, Adrian Utley explained that the band are set to begin the writing process. "We're just finishing up some projects we've each got and then we'll look to start writing, a little bit separately and then together but it is pretty exciting. I think we're just gearing up to it, staring at each other a bit and getting ready to go" the producer told 6 Music.

"We've definitely thought about it and have had discussions about where we're going and stuff, but it's kind of early days and I don't think any of us want to really hex it by putting too many rules on it, which we often do. I think we'll just start puking up stuff and see what it sounds like" he explained.

Continuing, the producer reflected on how playing live shows at the same time as writing could affect Portishead. "We've never ever done that and I think it will feed into what we're writing and how we feel about ourselves" he said.

"We tend to disappear into a studio for a long long time and sometimes it can get pretty dark which in a way is a part of the creative process, it's part of what makes us make the music we do, the kind of world we create around us."

"This is making it different, we'll be playing live shows around it that might have a good influence on it, I'm hoping that it does, I'm quite excited about the whole thing."

Portishead are set to curate I'll Be Your Mirror, which takes place between July 23rd - 24th.
