In domestic politics, liberals have opposed feudal restraints that prevent the individual from rising out of a low social status; barriers such as censorship that limit free expression of opinion; and arbitrary power exercised over the individual by the state.

^ thats so not me!!!! hey I learned something new... I'm all for freedom of speech, pro choice, rise of social status regarding minorities.. etc..

I was never any good at 'politics'

Thats right. And I generally vote against the majority.

the democrats arent as liberal as the Labour party are supposed to be in the UK. the whole 'socialism' thing never took root in the US did it

My guess is it's because the u.s. was always a capitalistic country, therefore without much of socialistic infuence.

but the UK is one of the first places where capitalism arose as well :idea2:

But U.S. had ONLY capitalisam and no other system, whilst at the time of 18th century much of the europe still had feudalism.

I don't like telling people my political affiliations, because then all they want to do is try to convince me why I shouldn't be that. Plus, I'm all that into politics to begin with.
