Uplifting songs to put you in a good mood

Featured Replies

We all know Coldplay make great songs which have definite emotive qualities.

However, I don't think anyone could describe them as particularly uplifting.

David Gray's "Babylon" is one tune that definitely is, and here is a list of other "singalong" songs which fall in the same category:

1. Fool's Garden - Lemon Tree

2. The Colourfield - Thinking Of You

3. Jimmy Cliff - I Can See Clearly Now

4. UB40 - Kingston Town

5. Men At Work - Down Under

6. Abba - Take A Chance On Me

7. Erasure - Victim of Love

8. Madonna - Cherish

9. Janet Jackson - Whoops Now!

10. Diana Ross - Chain Reaction

11. The Four Tops - Loco In Acapulco

12. Mental As Anything - Live It Up

13. Billy Ocean - When The Going Gets Tough

14. The Lightning Seeds - Pure

15. OMD - Secret

16. Human League - Don't You Want Me

17. M People - How Can I Love You More

18. Erasure - Blue Savannah

19. Sparks - When Do I Get To Sing My Way

20. Giorgio Moroder & Phil Oakey - Together In Electric Dreams

21. Deacon Blue - Real Gone Kid

22. OMD - Enola Gay

23. Aha - Take On Me

24. Elton John - I'm Still Standing

25. Supergrass - Alright

26. Kirsty MacColl - A New England

Anybody like to suggest some others??

Wild World certainly falls into that category. Definitely one with a catchy chorus.

The Killers - All These Things That I've Done

Keane - This Is The Last Time

Keane - Bend & Break (a little uplifting)

Travis - Sing

Travis - Love Will Come Through

Dido - Thankyou

Muse - Butterfiles & Hurricanes

and i'd be tempted to say Coldplay - Clocks is uplifting as well just for the piano in it

Daylight and God put a smile - Coldplay

Sun hits the sky - Supergrass

Dancing Queen - Abba

The Bitter End - Placebo

Modern Love - David Bowie

those are all I could think of...

The Killers - All These Things That I've Done (don't know it)

Keane - This Is The Last Time

Fantastic! My favourite single of last year!! Saw them a couple of months back, too!

Keane - Bend & Break (a little uplifting)

Travis - Sing

Yup, although I think "Side" is even more so.

Travis - Love Will Come Through

Dido - Thankyou

I love Dido, but I wouldn't have said that tune was uplifting!! :) It's very mellow.

However, "Sand In My Shoes" is!!

Muse - Butterfiles & Hurricanes

Will have to check that one out.

*Well the housey mixes definitely are!! Possibly the only Coldplay song that makes the grade in that department.

I don't know ALL the songs here, but I don't think you're quite getting the idea.

"Wonderwall" and "Driftwood" are great songs, but they are melancholic - not uplifting - much like many of Coldplay's tunes. I'm talking about "happy" tunes!!

remember the Lighthouse Family? there pretty uplifting - can't remember any of the titles of their songs though

Their most "uplifting" song was "High"......................used to play it in the club quite a lot - it was extremely popular when it came out, as was Desree's "Life" (same time). Used to go very well together, in fact! :)

I'm surprised you know it, as it wasn't a big hit in the U.K. It emanated from Germany!!

Perhaps - good tune again - but VERY melancholic. Not what I had in mind.

Ditto most of these, other than The Beatles ones. Most of their uptempo numbers make the grade.
