July 8, 200520 yr Author I think its talking about a girl. The hardest part...was letting go. :/ Yeah... You left the sweetest taste in my mouth...
July 8, 200520 yr What was exactly the hardest part? What are you suggesting?? :stunned: :stunned:
July 9, 200520 yr Aaah, what a lovely song this is! I heard the two drum intro and thought 'oh no'...then I heard the rest of it! Wonderful!
July 9, 200520 yr the hardest part was letting go... but what about the strangest thing? "waiting for that bell to ring, it was the strangest start..." I thought the song is about the end of a relationship not the beginning
July 10, 200520 yr What was exactly the hardest part? What are you suggesting?? :stunned:
July 10, 200520 yr the hardest part was letting go... but what about the strangest thing? "waiting for that bell to ring, it was the strangest start..." I thought the song is about the end of a relationship not the beginning  A new start maybe
July 10, 200520 yr Maybe a look into the past, at the beginning...he talks about this a lot. Like in scientist..."Oh take me back to the start" and Speed of Sound's "Lets go flying at the speed of sound to show you how it all began".
July 11, 200520 yr In one review, they suggested it was about the birth and caring of his child and now, that's the only way I view the song. "Was letting go not taking part" Talking about the birth. Since he was not the one pushing the baby out, he was not taking part. "And the strangest thing was waiting for that bell to ring It was the strangest start " Meaning his cellphone. Waiting for it to ring so he would know that his kid was gonna be born. "I could feel it go down It is sweet I could taste in my mouth Silver lining the clouds Oh and I I wish that I could work it out " Talking about the joy of his child's birth and how happy he was. "And the hardest part Was letting go not taking part You really broke my heart And I tried to sing But I couldn't think of anything That was the hardest part " Watching his wife in that pain broke his heart. He couldn't even sing, write. Note how often the album's release was delayed. "Everything I know is wrong Everything I do just comes undone And everything is torn apart " Well, that's parenting, right there. Everything you thought you knew about kids go out the window. And everything he does probably gets undone by the mother ("You're supposed to feed him at 2pm, not noon!". I think a lot of fathers can understand that.
July 12, 200520 yr I thought the song was about losing a girl because she wants to be with another guy, and having to get on with your life while still feeling the pain of it all. Wishing he could work it all out, make things right between him and her. The hardest part was letting go of somebody he loves, because it's the right thing to do in the end. atleast that's what I got from it.
July 12, 200520 yr I think we can all agree that there is more than one way to interpret this song, and practically every other Coldplay song. ;)
