Anyone goin to the August 4 edition of Coldplay Live!?

......cuz I am.

I'll make sure to post the setlist of the first show of the American tour

I was there too. I'm pretty sure the setlist was:

Square One

Politik

Yellow

God Put a Smile Upon Your Face

Low

Speed of Sound (not too sure about those two)

The Hardest Part

Everything's Not Lost

White Shadows

The Scientist

Don't Panic (freaking awesome version)

'Til Kingdom Come

Clocks (loved the ending)

Talk

--

Swallowed in the Sea

In My Place

Fix You

Those are the songs but its slightly out of order

Square 1

Politik

Yellow

God Put Smile upon Your Face

Speed of Sound

Low

Hardest Part

Everythings Not Lost

White Shadows

Scientist

Til Kingdom Come (acoustic)

Dont Panic (acoustic)

Clocks

Talk

Swallowed In The Sea

In My Place

Fix you

I like how alot of them were done differentl live then they have been before, like Yellow, which features no acoustic guitar and no synth teaser. The synth teaser was used before Clocks this time. GPASUYF had a slightly different ending as well

Notes:

-Politik had a line about "great to be in the USA"

-Yellow balloons were relesed during yellow that, when popped released yellow confetti

-Loudest reaction went to Clocks and Fix You

-Chris f**** up after the first chorus of Kingdom Come, but to a very loud ovation

-Chris was dancing around like crazy during White Shadows

-At the end of Fix You Chris sang "Now its time for us to go thanks for coming to our show" in place of "lights will guide you home and ignite your bones"

AH! Going to see them tomorrow and even though I didn't think it was possible, this just made me even more excited!!!!

the only prolem was they started like 1 hour and a half late, and the opening act wasnt great. But the place went nuts when square one started

omg that show was FANTASTIC@!@!!!!! i was seated toward the side in 300 but it was so ammazing he sort of came over and stood up real close to us at the end i loved it so much it made me love them even more.. if possible :D
woa seriously? That's exactly where I was sitting...last 4 seats on the row, O row, section 300? Where were you...I mighta saw you haha.

I loved the version of Clocks they did. Extended intro, plus the ending was freaking insane.

Oh, and did anyone get what the timer on the screens was about when they played square one?

EDIT: one more note to add. During one of the songs (God put a smile, I believe), the band members took out cameras halfway through the song and started taking pictures of the crowd. Then they proceeded to throw those cameras into the pit. I'm dying to see the pictures from those lol

8/4/05 Hartford Setlist

After the show I tried to put together the setlist from memory. What I came up with is just like the second setlist above, except I swear that they also played "What If?" not quite halfway through the set.

Am I crazy? Can someone back me up on this?

You did hear it, but they didn't play it live. It was played part-way after the opening act, before they went back to that technoish, hip hop stuff. What an amazing show.

omg i was row 300 section T seats 329-330 i was in a denimskirt and green with blue striped collared shirt and my mom with blonde haired with a big yellow dress LOLOL so AWESOME~
heh...don't seem to remember you

and about that technoish stuff that was playing before they came on. Does anyone know what it was? Some of it was pretty cool >.<

the only prolem was they started like 1 hour and a half late

wow are you serious? that is freakin crazy.i hope they don't start that late in columbus.

I was at the Hartford show too! After being at the Boston buzz show, it was great to actually know the songs off of X&Y. They were awesome!! I also loved the acoustic version of Don't Panic and the ending to Clocks was great!

I love Jonny and I thought he was so cute when he sang back and forth with Chris to the crowd (even though Jonny was so off-key at the end).

I also thought Chris was funny when was on his knees singing with his arms up to Jonny and he changed the words to one of the songs (can't remember it now) and said something like "please Jonny don't go solo" and they both started laughing.

Also before "Til Kingdon Come, Chris introduced Jonny, Will and Guy and said something like "every band has to have someone in it that could also be in the BackStreet Boys and for us that's Guy."

Final note- when I was walking through the parking lot of the theater, I saw the band leaving with a police escort. I looked up when i heard sirons and there were two cars next to me surrounded by police- a Mercedes with Chris and Jonny in it and a Porshe with Will and Guy and then their tour bus with a lot of security in it. I was shocked to actually see them in the cars but I smiled and Chris was just looking out all wide-eyed. . . with a worried (in my opinion) look on his face. I wish I had my camera!!

Oh also, I loved the techno music that was on before the show. If anyone finds out what it is, please post!

And. . . tonight a Boston radio station was broadcasting the Boston concert live (I only caught the last 4 songs, but it was the same order as Hartford). So, hopefully someone will turn it into MP3's.

I also thought Chris was funny when was on his knees singing with his arms up to Jonny and he changed the words to one of the songs (can't remember it now) and said something like "please Jonny don't go solo" and they both started laughing.
haha..I think that was during In My Place

Chris was just looking out all wide-eyed. . . with a worried (in my opinion) look on his face.

yea, he was like that at the end of the show too

I was in the Pit, one person back... Chris was soooo close so many times.. it was the most incredible thing I've ever seen in my life. :)

The boys were amazing (even though I was doubting if it was worth it before the show began.. they were sooo late!! and it was sooo hot!!)

But they didn't fail us.. I loved all the songs.. but I think I went craziest when they started in on Swallowed In The Sea... it's an amazing song live...

anyone else in the pit?

LOVED HARTFORD!!!!!!!

hey, saw my first concert eve on thursday, and coldplay was amazing...don't panic was phenomonal, and in my place blew me away as well as fix you (loved chris' improv)....as well as his gibe about "I'm well on my way to a celine dion concert, as i've just had my first costume change. i'll give you all a refund toward your tickets, 50 cents for every liter of sweat...right now we're up to about 2 dollars."

anywho, i'd love love love love ANY pics of the show and any sort of bootleg from the show...it was a truly memorable experience............

cheers, peter

I was in the Pit too, 1 person back Center...maybe I was right next to you autumnjoy...GREAT SHOW!!!

I was in the Pit too' date=' 1 person back Center...maybe I was right next to you autumnjoy...GREAT SHOW!!![/quote']

hhmm... well, behind/beside me were two guys who were high as kites... and beside the guy i was with was a blond girl and her boyfriend..

sound familiar>?

well I was next to a boyfriend/girlfriend and another girl...I had on a Cal hat and a blue striped shirt....well anyway I'm glad you had a great time!

It was completely excellent...

They put on such a great show... although, and this may sound funny.. but I wish Chris would talk to the audience more! I know he does talk a lot more than other performers... but, I love it when he checks to make sure the people in the back are doing ok (cause the lawn area was FULL!!) and makes clever remarks...

hehe... although, i'm not complaining about the singing either ;)

well err i have a myspace i look like this: myspace.com/larrycow72 but haha so how long have u been into ColdplaY?
aww..don't remember

I've been in to them for like...half a year maybe? >.<

  • 2 weeks later...
Oh also, I loved the techno music that was on before the show. If anyone finds out what it is, please post!

I was at thier show in hartford as well, it was amazing.

Anyway, i do remember them playing music over the loudspeakers before the concert, I cant remember everything they played but they did play one of my favorite Trip-Hop artists:

U.N.K.L.E, the song's title is ""Eye for an Eye" from the album Never,Never Land. You can download it from iTunes. Its a great album and i strongly recommend anyone who is a fan of Coldplay go out and pick a copy up, alot of Coldplay's contemporaries have preformed with U.N.K.L.E (Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Iann Brown of The Stone Roses & Richard Ashcroft of The Verve)

Hope i helped you find what you were looking for, and many thanks for posting the setlists!

(i loved how Chris sang Politik: "I give me concerts i can play, give me Hartford USA") :)

The band has a travelling DJ that goes around with them and he has a huge playlist that he draws off of. Try going onto http://www.coldplay.com...not sure if they have it posted but that would be your best bet to find out the exact songs.
