Rush of Blood vs. X&Y

Featured Replies

So I can't decide what album I like better so I will do a matchup of each song from each album.

Square One vs. Politik

The piano bridge at the end of Politik is one of Coldplays finest moments. Politk is a better opener live too. It has more jump to it. Square One has a cheesey opening to. Musically and Lyrically.

Winner: Politik

What If vs. In My Place

The Scientist Part II, I mean What If, is a very good song. Lyrically it is beautiful. It just doesn't have the same emotional level or energy level as In My Place. This one is close but I have to give it to In My Place.

Winner: In My Place

White Shadows vs. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face

God Put A Smile Upon Your Face is my favourite track on this album. A catchy chorus, awesome lyrics, and lots of energy. White Shadows also has good energy and musically is good but is this Coldplay trying to catch up to U2?

Winner: God Put A Smile Upon Your Face

Fix You vs. The Scientist

Both songs, very personal. Both songs, very good and catchy chorus. The Scientist, over played and too many people know how to play it on the piano. Fix You, it seems everybody loves this song first listen to the album. When it Fix You picks up, its one of their finest moments. Also a great song live. The Scientist is a classic though and never seems to get old even if it is overplayed.

Winner: tie

Talk vs. Clocks

Both the album version and early version of Talk are excellent. Lyrically, I think Talk is the best song on the album. The themes of uncertainty in the song are easy to relate to. The guitar during the bridge is also amazing. Clocks though, that piano, it just sounds like something wonderful coming from a piano in a huge cathedral. Wills drumming is also exceptional.

Winner: Clocks

X&Y vs. Daylight

I don't like the song X&Y.

Winner: Daylight

Speed of Sound vs. Green Eyes

Speed of Sound sounds to much like the recycling of sound. Too much like Clocks and I don't like that lack or originality. It is a good song though. A good chorus. Green Eyes meanwhile is Coldplays best love song yet. It is fun to sing along with and is just an all around beautiful song.

Winner: Green Eyes

A Message vs. Warning Sign

Both of these songs are pretty close to being my favourtite on each album. The acousitc version of both songs are good as well. The ending of Warning Sign is a little weak though unlike A Message. This one is close but the nod goes to A Message.

Winner: A Message

Low vs. A Whisper

A Whisper gets on my nerves, and Low is very catchy. I love the part where it just goes "Low, and I Feel Lowww oh oh..."

Winner: Low

the Hardest Part vs. A Rush of Blood to the Head

Chris's voice is good in the Hardest Part, the piano is great, the lyrics are great and the overall feel of the song is great. A Rush of Blood is too long of a name. I like the whole idea of buying a house and burning it down though.

Winner: The Hardest Part

Swallowed In The Sea vs. Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the perfect song for closing a show and an album. The piano intro is excellent and the build up in the song until it gets to the rocky part. Swallowed In The Sea is better lyrically though, and has better vocals.

Winner: Swallowed In the Sea

Both albums are exceptionally good and hard to decide which is better. It seems I like Rush of Blood better but that could change.

i dont think i could decide myself as i find them quite different...Like chalk and cheese...well maybe not that different, but still

i would disagree with sniggirb on several things:

1. First of all (i know many will think i'm nuts) but i like Square one better than Politik, i like it's energy and the fact that it wanders far from the typical coldplay-ish sound, also the acoustic closing of the song is brilliant and i think it's lyrically better.

2. What if is way better than in my place in every aspect, the riff in in my place rocks but i like what if better as whole

3. i like GPASUYF better so no comments there

4. i think fix you is a better song cause it doesn't stay in the category of piano ballad, they blow it up and the guitar/drums crescendo is coldplay at it's best.

5. I'd give them a big fat tie there

6. Daylight is one of my faves from AROBTTH but X&Y is also one of my faves from the new album so that's a close tie for me

7. Green eyes no doubt about it

8. mm i'd say warning sign cause the lyrics just get to me in a way that few other songs do, also i don't find the closing weak.. i think it's quite emotional

9. Low hands down

10. AROBTTH the title track is amazing, i also like the hardest part but i think it's a no contest

11. Amsterdam by a nose, i like them both quite a lot

I couldn't compare them track by track.

They're such different albums, that I love for different reasons.

Politik

In My Place

God Put a Smile Upon Your Face

Fix You

Clocks

X&Y

Speed of Sound

Warning Sign

Low

the Hardest Part

Amsterdam

Although when i match those songs up i know that i do like X&Y more as an album but i mean this didnt show that but i think it depends on the mood you are in.

i think too that we cant compare the two album.both are good.both are good for different reasons.

AROBTTH has 'A Whisper', and therefore my vote goes to X&Y.

I agree with YellowTrouble and hidegjatek. I think they're two very different albums that you just can't really compare. They're both awesome, but in different ways. :)

sniggirb, you had me for your first five picks but then you lost me after that. Altho your pick for Low over A Whisper, yeah obviously :stunned:

Swallowed in The Sea vs. Amsterdam, well i say a tie. Sometimes i just forward those two to the build up ending :uhoh:

I prefer AROBTTH because I like every song on this cd.On X&Y I have to skip several songs especially after "X&Y".But I like it,too.

sniggirb, why did you pair up those songs in particular? besides their location on the cd.

I prefer X&Y to AROBTTH a little bit but they are both good albums.

I like much more AROBTH than X&Y, I like Clocks so much... but. well, A Message, The Hardest Part and others X&Y´s songs are great

While my all time favorite songs seem to be on ROBTTH, I always seem to skip around. Ask me this question 2-3 weeks ago and I would have said Rush of Blood, no contest. But lately all I'm listening to seems to be X&Y. It's grown on me like a friggin' fungus. But more pleasant. Right, that didn't make sense... Anyways.

I think as an album, it really flows well. I can just sit for an hour and listen to it all the way through, not skipping anything.

Plus I really, strongly don't like A Whisper. That marred ROBTTH to me. So I vote X&Y.

 Why did I write so much for this?

i couldn't compare them really. they're two different albums made at different stages in the bands career. The band have moved forward from each of their previous albums. I love both parachutes, a rush of blood and x and y its interesting what they'll do for the next record

i dunno, my problem was i thought i could compare the two albums...and when i did that x&y basically equaled toliet paper.

i'm just taking each album for what it is. x&y is a little different, pretty light. a rush is emotional and dark at times. i enjoy them both, but i love a rush so much more.

I love them both, but I love EVERY track on X&Y and only a few on AROBTTH, but the ones I do like from A Rush Of Blood To The Head are better than most of the songs on X&Y, in my opinion anyway, I'm not sure how I could choose between them two. :(

I do love Clocks very very much but as an album i think my vote goes to X&Y because the new record has more energy, and i feel more pleasant when i listen to the whole X&Y.

I think AROBTTH Album was better. Alot of X & Y is a little over the top.

You cant compare the songs because they all have their different style, etc. I really love X&Y but my favourite will always be AROBTTH :)

So I can't decide what album I like better so I will do a matchup of each song from each album.

I can't believe you like Hardest Part over A Rush of Blood to the Head...wow.

I just think that X&Y is their best album to date. It took me about a year to get AROBTTH off my player, same with Oasis' Morning Glory. I think I'll wait for the next Coldplay album before my X&Y gets some rest. :))
