There is nothing wrong with going to a psychologist Mark. My mom and sister are both psychologists.

I never said there was anything WRONG with going to a psychologist.

However, psychologists can only help you find the power within you to "heal" yourself. In essence that's all they do - they are never actually IN your mind, and so can't ever really know what's going on.

Their skill is in getting a "patient" to self-analyse.

Everyone does have this self-analysing/self-healing power, and it is indeed a pity that a lot of people aren't aware of this.

Yes - and that is true, but that isn't condemning "psychobabble".

The sad truth is that "psychobabble" shouldn't be needed in many cases,

but too many people aren't in touch with their inner selves enough.

That's the point I was making.

Of course the influence/pressures of society and the media have a lot to do with making people insecure in the first place.

Mark, I see what you are saying but you come off as arrogant here. Like you know what is right and that others don;t I'[m sorry to say but it's not all PMA and all is roses. Try telling that to a schitzophrenic, or manic depressive. Some people need help and I love getting psychobabble and advice, I like to recieve support from others etc...

They are different, as they are recognised illnesses, which normally require treatment with drugs, as I said before. Completely different.

Mark, would you ever go to a psychologist?

You are giving me a creepy Tom Screwse vibe

Well Mr. Screws is an example of someone who has convinced himself he DOES need some kind of "help" by joining the Scientologists!!

:D

Exactly, yet you didn't answer my question Mark

Well you should never say "Never" as you NEVER know what might be round the corner................................................................but at the moment - no.

So what sorts of things do/would you talk to a psychologist about, Aaron?

I've been to a psychologist before. It was nothing serious I just had some issues to think out and work on. There's too much of a stigma surrounding mental illness and those who choose to seek help.

That's probably true, but I guess all the psychologist really did was help you work things out in your own mind??

This is true. They are there for advice, to help you work things out. I just don't like people who say you are weak or pathetic for needing to reach out sometimes. I'm not saying you said that though Mark ;)

No, you're correct - I didn't. What I was saying is, that in the end, you did the real stuff yourself. You are the only one who actually "knows" yourself!!

Yes and now we come full circle. We'll keep going around in circles if we don't stop.

I see where you stand now and I know you are not being arrogant. It is settled, Let's let it go ;)

Sounds good to me - although we're not the only ones participating in this!! :D

By the way, I just had a thought - have Ashlee and Jessica Simpson ever tried to get a "guest appearance" in...........................The Simpsons?? :P

The Simpson Bitches on the Simpson's could be possibly classic but I'm not sure.

As long as they don't sing, of course!! :P

so damn true

Congratulations on turning this thread around, Aaron - you seem to have a knack for doing that!! :D

Thanks Mark :)

Have you ever seen one of those "Nick and Jessica" specials. They are vomit inducing trials of terror

 Yes, that is quite what I had in mind.
