Featured Replies

As long as they dont switch to rap, and Chris starts rapping and Will starts DJing, then its gonna be good :D

Well from another thread, according to these articles that cpf235 found:

"Also, we all know there will be a fourth Major release from Coldplay (all things going well), but it seems all these sites know the title and release date!

Hoax or Mistakes?

the new release will be out at the end of january!! lol, but I don't believe it ... I don't know what all those are about anyways ...

how can Coldplay released new material, if it took them almost 18 months to record X&Y ?

I think this is a hoax

maybe they spent 18 months recording both these albums...And now are releasing this one. It makes sense to me.

they're not realesing a new album, someone asked deb and she had no clue about this one..

the 4th album wont be out until 2008. that's my opinion..

Will this 4th be Coldplay's Achtung Baby or their Pop?

*prays for Achtung Baby*

I think X&Y was their Pop... it was a more electronic sound than Rush, and was possibly their worst so far, IMO. Rush of Blood was godlike... we need more like that.

Huh... That "Love, Actually" stuff is pretty interesting, but here's what I've heard... this is from Wikipedia:

In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, Chris Martin hinted that Coldplay's next album may be a "fast, dark and heavy" affair "with no pianos." [6] Band manager David Holmes suggested that the band may record a new album between their tour schedule over the new year: "They're definitely hungry to get back in the studio to make another record; they've got a lot of material. So for next year we're looking at building a tour around their recording schedule. Ultimately it could potentially mean we end up releasing another record [next year] and continuing to tour well into '07."

Recently, there are speculations that the band will get to the studio soon to make new material. "We just love being creative," bassist Guy Berryman said. "When we're out on the road, it's amazing to play live but we're really missing what we do best, which is creating. We've been together for almost ten years now and we've only made three albums." Speaking to BBC 6 Music, he added: "When you look at people like The Beatles who knocked out a couple a year, it sort of makes us start to panic a little bit. So we're just desperate to get back into the studio."

So, it sounds to me as if they aren't satisfied with the fact that it took them 3 years to get a new album out there. More and more these days, bands are releasing an album a year. Now, sometimes they aren't the best quality, but I've heard some great stuff from bands who have been releasing albums every year, or at least planning too. A lot of bands take too much time recording an album, and come out to release more albums in rapid succession (within a year of each other). One such band is Broken Social Scene. Their sophomore album, You Forgot It In People was released in the middle of 2003, and they planned on releasing another album last November, but it kept being delayed until it was released last October... Now, they are releasing a new album by, or possibly before, next summer. Of course, they also have enough songs recorded to make a new album already, but I think Coldplay probably does too... they just don't want to.

Anyways, it sounds like they'd like to start getting out more albums, while maintaining the quality, so if they plan to stick with this, and record while on the road, I don't think it's unrealistic to expect another album before 2007. I just hope the album isn't completely devoid of piano... that would suck. I would hope that if they were going to wait another 3 years to release an album, they should release a B-Sides album in the meantime, for the fans sake.[/b]

my local radio station said yesterday to expect a new album not long after the new year, so i dont know whats up. :)

I would like to see the band top they're new opener Square One...

An impossible feat if you ask me :/

  • 4 weeks later...

Looks like that "Love, Actually" thing is a DVD....possibly the tour DVD that we have been hoping for? :)
