Mark Beaumont and Coldplay...history?

I came across this setlist on nme.com and was curious about the alias of Yellow.

I looked up Mark Beaumont and Coldplay. I came across a nice review that Mark did over Coldplay in June 2005. So why was Chris talking about being scared of him?  Does anyone know anything else about this guy?

My favorite part of the review:

"..... 'In My Place' and 'White Shadows' which make Chris do his hop-on-the-spot-while-reaching-for-an-invisible-cake-in-the-sky dance; a stripped-down segment for ''Til Kingdom Come' and 'Don't Panic!' . And if at 9.30pm you heard a cheer like England won the World Cup or Justin Hawkins just fell off a bridge, that was 'Yellow'. "
