This will have been brought up before- no doubt, but i couldn't be arsed looking through all the other threads. Just wanted to say how dissapointed i am with X & Y! I have listened to it about 4 times... not good. There are a few good songs but overall i think it's a big let down. I absolutely love Coldplay but gosh what the hell happened????

I can see where you're coming from. I love the album but I can understand why some fans aren't so crazy about it. It's a little different from their previous work. It's a little more poppy and electronic. I still love it though, but like I said, I can understand how you feel about it.

no. I think Warpedfairy is right.I did hope and expect 4 this album but it's beyond my expectations through I love 2 songx: X & y and Speed of sound.

ah , the album is good....but not very good. Still i like it, and you must to listen it more than 4 times before you really like it. this album has litlle changes, and some fans like me, don't like changes.

Yeah there are changes. And I'm a big fan, and the way I see it is, its their music and they go where they want with it. I enjoy the new stuff a lot and that's good enough for me. Sure its different but I think it's still really good. Change isn't always a bad thing. Now if Coldplay came out with a hip-hop/nu-metal album, then i'd be worried.

Listen more. That is the only answer I can give. When I got X & Y, there I am all excited, put the CD in my computer and it gets to What If and Fix You, and I was saddened, I tell you. I'd heard Speed of Sound and thought "Oh my, what's going on here then?!" . But then I played the tracks excessively every possible time I could, and lo, I now think some of the songs on there are the best they've ever recorded. As an LP, really is a grower, you have to subject yourself to several repeats before it hits you, but it's as good as the other two to me now in it's own way.

okay. many people, including myself have felt this way. i honestly didnt like the album, it seemed inferior to the other two. but i listened and it grew on me. you have to imagine that they never released the two other albums. if you keep saying, oh, its a bad album IN COMPAIRISON to the other two, youll never like it. its a really good album. and i know its not the usual coldplay style, but its still pretty good. now, if they are changing, this isnt bad. (ive also heard that they are changing their style kinda like sleeping sun, on the talk single, which is pretty good). as long as they dont turn into like, eminem, white rappers, WIGGERS if you will, then thats okay. :)

I agree. It really is a great album partially because its slightly different. Every album of Coldplay's kinda has its own twist if you think about it.

I can understand you..........although I love it....it is different..I didn't get as much "into" it as in AROBTTH for example........for me X&Y is a piece of good music!

I didn't like it by the fourth listen...was kind of disappointed....

Some albums require more listens to enjoy (OKC, Funeral, Loveless, etc) :idea2:

x&y is a good album there are good songs like x3 x4 x5 x5 y1 y1 y +

All of them are good for me

yep, it's still gud but if the next album is changed like that and the special style of Coldplay that we can find in "parachutes, a rush of blood to the head"fade out, , so is it good??? :huh:

ok, so i tried listening to it some more.. a few times i chaned the cd, it is really hard to get into, however i have had it on a few more times- it's OK. Still not up to my standards though :cool: lol. I really hope this is their worst album and future ones are better! I sound really demanding here but Coldplay are one of my all time fav bands and X & Y has let me down big time.

But cheers everyone for your thoughts, I'm going to work on 'understanding' the album more

well, if the album poll is any indication, most people think x&y is their best album (myself included). I really don't think it's that big a departure from their earlier stuff, but if you go into it with preconceived expectations (like anything) you'll probably end up disappointed.

 

warpedfairy, I would suggest not trying so hard to "work on understanding" it. Just listen and let it come to you. btw, sounds great if you listen late at night, especially while going for an aimless drive or a walk. imo.

Listening to X & Y on the beach is one of the best places to listen to it.....unbelievable experience. I would suggest not comparing this album to their past ones so much....just try to enjoy it for what it is

The album is great, but that's begins to start after you listen to it a lot. At first I didn't like Twisted Logic at all, but now it's one of my favourites, and that goes for all songs...

I like X&Y!!! It's really different than their first two albums, but it's great :)

It is true that this album is nothing like the previous one, but its the individuality that makes it so good. I really enjoy this album and you should try to listen to it without comparing it to the previous ones.

I love this album to death and i think it's cool that it has a meaning, and a theme behind it.
