February 9, 200620 yr yeah jonathan ross was right. Fairplay, foreplay, coleslaw and rainstoppedplay is the way to go
February 9, 200620 yr I know people that don't like Coldplay because they dislike Gwyneth. Tell me the logic in that. :rolleyes4:
February 9, 200620 yr I'm laughing because all these things you're saying are the same things I hear people saying about U2...I don't like Bono...WTF he wants to do in the world...their songs suck...and so on. I'm completely in love with U2, more than Coldplay, and obviously I can't be more than happy today (actually I spent half of the day here and the other half partying in a U2 forum  ), I love HTDAAB it means so much to me...but I'm not able to compare it to X&Y...they are different but I probably like them in the same way. If I'm to tell you the truth I would have never imagined they could win all the Grammies they were running for, and it's not always the best album which wins. Larry (the drummer in case some of you don't know him) said it was totally unexpected, especially remembering how hard has been for them losing the Grammy for Acthung Baby, which they were really proud of. So...who cares...we know X&Y is an amazing album, Grammies are very important awards, but the most important thing is what we feel when we listen to their songs, we see them live...and you know this is true just thinking how many of us were going crazy this night, this is what Coldplay can do in us ;)
February 9, 200620 yr Be happy Coldplay at least got nominated for a Grammy. I mean, if you're gonna lose to a band it might as well be U2 (the biggest band in the world). Look at Paul McCartney, biggest influence on music. His fantastic album lost to Kelly Clarkson, an American Idol. That's messed up. The Grammy's aren't that accurate. So cheer up. It could've been worse. We'll get them next time.
February 9, 200620 yr Larry (the drummer in case some of you don't know him) said it was totally unexpected' date=' especially remembering how hard has been for them losing the Grammy for Acthung Baby, which they were really proud of.[/quote'] Was it me, or did they totally cut Larry off while he was speaking? Those Academy idiots.. Anyway.. with Achtung Baby, wasn't the fuss about that it didn't get Album of the Year, but u2 won in other categories? I don't know, correct if I'm wrong. It just bothers alot more when you're completely shut out like CP was. Not to mention that X&Y was already snubbed for the big categories. I'm so disappointed.. have to constantly remind myself that Coldplay is indeed a very young band and it's a blessing for them to have won Grammys on their first two albums. I guess I'm kinda spoiled by that track record, I was really hoping on a third album Grammy win. :stunned: Veryyyy true crawlinwithin, if Coldplay had lost to someone like Kelly Clarkson or Gwen Stefani.. that'd do my head in.
February 9, 200620 yr Nooo she didn't! I am SO glad too. "It's bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!" Fecking shoot me.
February 9, 200620 yr I'll agree with whoever said that both albums are niether of the bands' best, but put seperatly together, X&Y is, without bias, the better album. How To was definatly recycling of earlier U2 and I can honestly say, after purchasing the album about 5 months ago, there isn't a song that really grabs me at all. X&Y was much more daring and different for Coldplay and just has better songs. U2 only won because it's U2. And they HAVE to win right? I think if Coldplay were put into the Alternative category (like they SHOULD'VE been) they would've won hands down. They only put them in the Rock category because it was televised and they knew thousands of Coldplay fans would tune in to watch. And I really think Arcade Fire should've won for Best Alternative. All and all, the Grammys just succeed in royally pissing me off.
February 9, 200620 yr They just won for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal with Achtung Baby...and just to cheer you up, they got the first one in 1987 for The Joshua Tree (which IMO is their best with Achtung Baby), their 5th album :nice: so be happy anyway
February 9, 200620 yr I hear ya Frosty, I hear ya! And yes, Arcade Fire definatley should have won Best Alternative!!! :(
February 9, 200620 yr After all these award shows I always realise that all of them are crap. No matter if they win or not. Awards are just a heap of shit.
February 9, 200620 yr Time for the opinion of someone actually listening to the album as she writes this: Yeah. It is. For the next month or so I think I'll assume the position of 'Loud Mouth, Fucking Bitch U2 Fan In The Corner'. It's just hard not to defend a band that you spent somewhere close to 2,000 dollars on this past year :uhoh2:  And guess what, if I put on X&Y right now, I'll think that's better. Then I'll put on The Bomb and think THAT'S better. And it works. Because they're two of the best bands in the world and that's the END of the discussion.
February 10, 200620 yr I like AROBTTH better, but X&Y is still fucking good! It's not utter crap like everyone tells me. :embarrased: :( :( :( Oh well, the Grammy's are completely useless, IMO. USELESS.
February 10, 200620 yr ^Agree... I guess it's only for celebrities to have a chance agian to show their new dresses and f*cking diamonds. And to give Beyoncé a reason to buy a new fur coat or something. F*ck'em.
February 10, 200620 yr you know what i don't like? the constant bitching of chris, and it has been that way from the right start and got even worse after they got into the oxfam thing and after chris started dating gwyneth. oh and the constant comparing and yelling about how chris tries to be bono, and when you ask those ppl why do the think so..they'll answer you well he tries to save the world- make poverty history (just like bono does..) and he's jumpin all around just like bono did and still does...i mean WTF!! you can't even express your opinion (cus bono is doing it to) nor dance (cus bono is doing it too) c'mon..what has gone wrong with this world and those same ppl on the other hand really belive that pete dohrety (or whatever is his name) got kate moss do drugs, and now kate is obviously clean. (that're no doubt about it  )..you get what i mean?
February 10, 200620 yr I understand exactly what you mean, couldn't agree with you more. It's dumb to compare bands in the first place. I am so utterly sick of people comparing U2 and Coldplay that I feel like puking. Let's just like what we like and stop bitching about it. Please. (obviously I'm not directing this at anyone here! ;) Just tired of seeing it all over the place in general.) I wish Chris was MORE like Bono, for crying out loud. For me, Bono's the most perfectist man in the whole wide world (check out THAT grammer, eh? :D  ) and I wish everyone was like him. But then again, I think Chris is the second most perfectist man in the whole wide world. And they're different people. If I had a rock band I'd completely rip off Bono AND Chris with everything they do. I don't see how that could be a bad thing...? I'm not such an elitist with my music that I'll immediately discriminate against a band if they remotely sound like someone else. Like how I recently fell in love with Keane even though people would probably be all "omgz liek they stoled from Coldplay nothnx". But who cares, I love the music... Jeeeeeez! If you just like one band, one style, then you're not a true music fan. Just my 2.56 cents...
February 11, 200620 yr Author put it this way' date=' i think my dick is bigger than u2's Cd.[/quote'] wow! Austin Powers!!!
February 11, 200620 yr an_cat is right, it's not right to compare 2 bands. I love X&Y and I love HTDAAB...there's no difference Bono and Chris are also 2 very different people, although I absolutely love them both
February 11, 200620 yr put it this way' date=' i think my dick is bigger than u2's Cd.[/quote'] Considering the CD's only about 6 inches across, that's not too impressive.
February 11, 200620 yr I like all Coldplay CD's. My two favorites are X&Y and A rush of blood to the head, but I don't like to compare them. They are so great in their own ways! U2? Well, my opinion can be summed up in a mere smiley:  .
