my thoughts on the grammys

Featured Replies

Well stated Gareth, but I do think that twisted logic is a great song and belongs on the album as much as any other (except hardest part of course). Rhythmically and lyrically it sounds great, and I like the fact that it constantly builds until the end. It is dark like "lucky", and is different than anything else they have released. "Such a rush" also builds to the end, but is not nearly as good as twisted logic imo. Even though clocks is my all time fav song, I just don't want to hear 50 similar versions of clocks in the future.

BTW - how did this thread go off on this topic? I like it.....

Yes, I also don't wan't 50 similar versions of clocks :)

Still think Such A Rush is undescribably better tan twisted logic :P :).

I hope they bring it back to their live show eventually, coz they did try to play it in soundcheck. I think if a new recording of that song is made it would be great, but i don't think that's going to happen.

Yes, it has gone slighty off topic but it's all heathly here...

Hey Gareth, did you happen to download my sig link? What do you think of them? Be kind, they are friends of mine....

Even to get more off topic....

:D

i have downloaded the link, and i like their sound a lot. i love the drum tracks and the guitar, and the voice is not too bad :D

Mango juice just sealed the deal for me. Either way.. I'll say it again. That album is bullshit. I've enjoyed every other album fine. But good god.. b-u-l-l-s-h-i-t.

^^You are my god.^^

Hahaha this is a pretty funny thread. Not funny because of the great arguments on both sides, but funny for the lengths of the arguments.

So pretty much, in recap, this is what's been stated.

"I hate U2"..."They're old so give it to them"..."But Coldplay is better for where they are"..."Mango juice just sealed the deal for me"..."X&Y vs. AROBTTH"..."Everybody Listen to 'Stars of Track and Field'"

So if you all will excuse me, I will take my copy of "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" and use it as my coaster for my mango juice whilst I listen to my copy of X&Y, and AROBTTH, and Parachutes, and a lot of B-Sides, etc. etc. etc. period. dot dot dot. BTW, I don't even own HTDAAB. Or Mango Juice for that matter.

Whatever, U2’s last CD is one of my favorite ever and I have been a fan since I got October for my 12th birthday. I am not BLIND to whatever they do I just like good music. Most of my older friends think Coldplay is a lame watered down version of Radiohead and nothing more then a soft rock POP band for screaming under age girls. I tell them they are wrong and I tell you who don't like U2's new music that you are wrong,

But that's just what it's like in my world.

Everyone should just take the grammy's with a grain of salt. Just because a band/song/album wins an award doesn't indicate if its good music or not. Like someone said earlier it's more of a popularity contest. Both U2 and Coldplay's last albums are not their strongest work, but IMO both good and definetely better than most albums out there. U2 probably shouldn't have won all the awards they did, but if you saw some of the competition for some of the awards who else would you give the award too.
