February 18, 200620 yr We may as well start a thread about this, now that we know its going to be the 4th single. I'm wondering if we'll get one or two b-sides. My greatest hope is that Ladder to the Sun makes it on there!! I love that song sooo much, and I would be really upset if they didn't release it as one! What else do you all think they could have on there? Sweet Marianne? Echo My Name? Fury? Blasphemy? (If those songs even exist!)
February 18, 200620 yr Ladder To The Sun studio version would absolutely rule! And maybe they will make up for a poor single by adding one of those discarded tracks that actually turn out to be incredible! Here's hoping...
February 19, 200620 yr I think Idiot and Ladder to the Sun would be awesome. They deserve to be released.
February 19, 200620 yr Author I don't think they'll release Idiot, only because the band have talked about the fact that they dont like that song .. but you never know!
February 19, 200620 yr I really like Pour Me...more for the guitar than the lyrics and studio it could be really good. If they mabye chopped and changed a wee bit like they did with Gravity...could be good! They should have a poll on the site as to what it should be...never gonna happen though...
February 19, 200620 yr Ladder to the Sun studio version would be sick on Hardest Part EP. I hope they put this on the single!
February 20, 200620 yr how about finally a properly mastered alt. Talk and one of those new songs Chris has been writing.
February 21, 200620 yr I'm sure this will be a one B-side single. It better be good. As in Ladder to the Sun good.
February 21, 200620 yr They'll probably release a couple of different singles like they did for Talk, In My Place, The Scientist, etc. They will come out with a 2-track single that features THP + a new b-side. Then about a month after that, they'll release another single that will have THP, the previous b-side, and a new b-side. I don't foresee the alt version of Talk. They didn't like it well enough to put on the album and they just released that as the last single. I see them as putting on THP (a radio/video version), Ladder To The Sun or Solid Ground, plus something new. I also don't really see a live track. They've put out numerous live tracks on the Talk dutch set already. UNLESS they give us a new song (non-album) that is live. But I don't recall hearing that they've played anything new on this tour. I thought they might put on HYSTW since the original version has yet to be available to anyone outside the Japanese market (unless you want to pay big dollars). But then I thought since they put an alternate version on the War Child album for charity that they probably won't go this route. I also don't see "In The Sun" since a) it's not their song and b) it was for charity too. Didn't the lead singer from Embrace say he was surprised to not see Solid Ground make the album? Could be foreshadowing... So again, I foresee. 1. THP (radio edit/video version) 2. Ladder To The Sun/Solid Ground 3. ?? something new
February 21, 200620 yr Will said in an itnerview that How You See The World would be a b-side, so this and maybe a reworked version of Solid Ground?
February 21, 200620 yr Author How You See The World reworked version of Solid Ground? I don't really see a connection between the two songs. The subject matter and composition of both songs is totally different. Will was saying HYSTW would be a b-side a while back, but more recently, Chris has said that it would be on their next album ... so I don't know if they'll release it as a b-side ... Solid Ground would be the most amazing b-side. Ihad no idea that Embrace had heard this track, where did the lead singer's quote come from ?
February 21, 200620 yr The Embrace quote came out of one of the recent Coldplay Ezines. They did an interview with him at the end talking about Gravity and what songs he heard from the X&Y sessions that he was surprised wouldn't make it. And I think you misunderstood -DAN-. I don't think he meant any kind of blend of the 2 songs (HYSTW and Solid Ground), rather he meant each song would be a b-side. I wouldn't think they'd put HYSTW on a future album since it's already been released once. It'll either stay as a Japanese only track or be added as a b-side, imo.

I really hoped that DAN didn't mean a blend of both those tracks! So if the singer from Embrace heard Solid Ground, that means there is in fact a studio version! I really hope this ends up as a b-side either on The Hardest Part single or the next one (if they have a next one). And about How You See The World, I'm just going by what Chris said in an interview that's been posted on this site. He stated that they regretted leaving many tracks off X&Y, and that those tracks may well end up on their next album, one of them being How You See The World! I also find it unlikely, because it was a bonus track, and a charity track, and they play it live all the time now ... but we'll see!
