Swallowed In The Sea

Here I go again, lol... As some of you might remember I asked for some pics of the live performances of this song for my college project. This time, I was wondering if you could give me some opinions on the song and what YOU think the songs and it's lyrics mean. thank you!!

Well I think this song is great, but in my opinion Coldplay got better songs.

I think the lyric is brilliant and the music as well :D

feeling a bit suffocated in a relationship but then realising its actually what you want?? lol

I dunno! talking shite!

I love how the song builds up from being a real lysmall one with just a voice and quiet music to this big arenarockballad.

the meaning, just realising that the person your with really is the one you wanna be with.

I think it's about realising just how good you've got it with someone.....realising how well they treat you, and how lucky you are to be with them. - "You cut me down a tree and brought it back to me, and that's what made me see where I was going wrong". I see this as meaning that someone has made a huge sacrifice/done somthing amazing for you, and you suddenly realise how lucky you are to be with them, and shouldn't take it for granted.

"You cut me down to size, and opened up my eyes, made me realise what I could not see" - this person has had a huge impact on you, and changed your way of thinking (for the better)...

And then the rest I just see as reiterating their love for this person, eg: how they could "write a song, a hundred miles long" to descibe their love for them...

So yeah thats kinda what I have in my head when I listen to it:)...hope thats ok...

thanks so much everyone!!!! its really helpful.

keep them coming

woow steph that was brilliant haha hi ! by the way, What hapend on the foroum ??!!

Steph that is basically what I was gonna say! The song reminds me of Warning Sign in so many ways but I do not like it as much...probably the forced rhyme but you know. However one of my favourite little Coldplay moments is in the song...the final verse where Chris belts out "Oh what good is it to live...with nothing left to give...etc" It just screams out "I do love you! I was wrong before but you truly are what I want! Everyone needs a companion in their life and you are mine! Life is great!"

Just my thoughts anyway!

^Aww yeah I know what you mean about that part! Im not a big fan of this song, for the same reason as you Ted, but I do really love that particular bit :)

lyrically i love the simpleness. its just nice that its not all confusing.

the melody is good as well. but in my opinion not singleworthy. plus i dont want lil 12yr olds singing this song and ruining it for me

hehe... steph said 'wong'.

read it again.

Yeah it is...

*whistling wind....tumbleweed rolls by* :uhoh2:

It's scaring me a bit!

swallowed in the sea is one of my fav coldplay songs simply because of their lyrics. i do, have to admit that at first, i wasnt completelty crazy about it, but i guess that love takes time to cultivate and somehow that's why i think the song is about. at first it seems as though the other party is doing lots of things, showing love and affection. until the other person did these things then he realized "he was wrong", after this he says he could write a song a hundred miles long corresponding to this affection. im a little akward when it comes to the ending...im still unsure as to what is really trying to say. it could say that he wasnt corresponding the other person or that he was too late...

that's my opinion there...

That's what I love about that song too. The lyrics are a bit childish at the start, like what you mean about the forced rhyme. But that bit gets me EVERY time. I could listen to it over and over.
