Sold Out!

The Festival is officially sold out... Its going to be a huge sucess..

Thanks mate, more on this:

It’s A Sell Out! The Isle Of Wight Festival 2006 has sold out.

With headline acts including Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Prodigy and Placebo, The Isle of Wight Festival is one hot ticket and with tickets now completely sold out, it just got even hotter!

The sell out comes just days after organisers announced that Foo Fighters and Coldplay had joined the ever expanding line up – especially exciting given that this will be Coldplay’s ONLY live date in Europe this summer.

Event organisers Solo said today "We’re absolutely thrilled. Every year, the line up gets stronger and the tickets sell out faster. Now in our 5th year, we’re regarded as one of the biggest and best UK festivals, with many bands choosing to perform at The Isle of Wight Festival over any other. As always, we would like to thank everyone involved for their help in getting the Isle of Wight firmly on the festival map again."

The line up so far is as follows:

Friday 9th June

The Prodigy, Placebo, Goldfrapp, The Rakes and Morning Runner

Saturday 10th June

Foo Fighters, Primal Scream, Editors, Dirty Pretty Things, The Kooks, The Upper Room and 747’s.

Sunday 11th June

Coldplay. Richard Ashcroft, Lou Reed, Maximo Park and KUBB

The Isle of Wight Festival 2006 will be the fifth festival since it’s reincarnation in 2002. Over the last few years David Bowie, R.E.M, Faithless, The Who, Supergrass, Razorlight, Travis and The Magic Numbers amongst many others, have taken to the stage in what has fast become one of the hottest festivals in the UK.

The Isle of Wight Festivals at the end of the 1960’s were a series of legendary events featuring Bob Dylan, The Who, Free, The Doors, Joni Mitchell, Jefferson Airplane culminating in 1970 with 600,000 hippies descending on the island to see Jimi Hendrix perform his penultimate concert. As documented in the film ‘Message to Love’ and celebrated in songs such as Oasis’ ‘F***ing in the Bushes’, the event has played a major part in shaping the music festivals we know today and was the European answer to Woodstock.

The festival will take place from Friday 9th June – Sunday 11th June at Seaclose Park, Newport.

The festival will be broadcast by Virgin Radio.

So it took a good couple weeks after what the people thought would sell out the festival quickly (adding coldplay) for it to sell out.

I might go to the venue anyway and listen from outside. Hehe.

I wonder if they could just play extra loud and I'll sit in the King Alfred in Soton, have a few pints, and listen from there.
