lennyp75
Ok so I've finally purchased a guitar, this one acoustic Yamaha F-310. Anyways i'm starting to get the hang of the things very slowly (I've learned Mary had a little lamb :/ ) but I know there's still a long way till' I can get some Coldplay going. haha anyways I just wanted to know for all those people that don't take lessons or just know what are some good ways to start off playing guitar? Any specific advice you can give me on where I should look for training, etc? I noticed that one of my biggest problems was just correctly holding down the frets to avoid that weird buzzing sound it makes, but I'm sure that will go away over time. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys!
amsterdam528
I would just get a book that tells you how to do the basic chords (or a website), then find easy tabs on the internet (ultimate-guitar.com, for example) That's really how I did it, and after a lot of practice it became quite easy to play most of Coldplay's stuff. lennyp75
hahahah nice good advice guys thanks.. but just one (althoimportant) question: HOW DO I RESTRING MY GUITAR?!?!? So yesterday I was tuning it a bit... too much, and my "g" broke so i went to guy buy some replacement strings... now i fiddled around with it thinking i can string it myself and ended up making a mockery of guitar. i mean, i got it to sound like a G again but the string is too long and it didnt all wrap around the pole etc... can anyone give relatively basic instructions on how to do this? that'll be GREATLy appreciated thx in advance
Marky
You do realise that you have to cut the strings to length after you have strung them right? Dont try to wrap the whole string around the capstan. EDIT: Read through these pages http://guitar.about.com/library/weekly/aachangingstringsa.htm
lennyp75
HAHAH oHHHH i didnt read that part.... where you have to cut it after.
