Time travel

Featured Replies

Not trying to get very philosophical, just a brief question... do you think they might be possible? I doubt it. That's like the limit for a human mind.

welll.......in a "real" way it isn't....but maybe in a small area.....when everything is like in the 20es for example...they could fake it!

It actually seems impossible- does the time really exist? makes me think a lot about the guy in the thread saying time doesn't exist.

I really do not think it is possible unless they can manipulate the forces of nature ina MAJOR way. I mean, they have before. But it has been scientifically possible... time travel would just be NUTS! :freak:

I remember when i was a tiny tike, people would ask me what type of super power i would ask for if i could... I would always ( i guess still do at times) say either teleport or time travel.

Sometimes I wish so badly to be able to change past times (maybe future ones too) that it hurts

@Crystal: Well, the forces are something science already can manipulate, BUT TIME... does time really exist so we can travel through it?

What do you mean?

physically it's possible. there's a theory about it, but i will go street naked and run 2000 miles if somebody will be able to travel between times

i think its very very unlikely. but anythings possible.

There are natural impossible things for nature.

It's impossible to create or destroy matter and energy. At least in this known universe that is all for us.

good point.

it may be possible i think:being able to see the 4th dimension that is the time dimension.

:S

Oh sorry......I think I didn't get the topic right...

@ NIk.... will you ever be able to see an atom with the naked eye.. and many other things of that sort

(man..what made me stop listening to TWS?!)

@ 'Faust' (don't know the name) : I don't think so.... there isn't like a parallel universe just sitting there playing tilll someone travels back to it. I hope not actually. It's just too much to imagine!

  • Author

@ Crystal... you can see the atoms!! with a tunneling microscope (sp??)

Btw, if you mean that seeing the atom was something unnimaginable in other times, well I know but is just that TIME is a higher concept, more metaphysical. I'd even dare to say an invention of human mind...

Same with the 4th dimension... there's just no empirical proof of it. It's all based in calcles.

Btw, I'm Charles!

Okay, Charles. Nice to meet you :)

I know it is possible to see an atom. But like you said, with a special telescope...i think you got the spelling right. ;)

I just meant to say that some things are not possible...such as seeing atoms with JUST your eyes.

I just can't imagine with my little mind how time travel could really be possible, much less can be possible.

I'm not trying to come off as immature, but when I'm drinking, it sure feels like I'm travelling through time. Even though, in reality, the sparse blocky patched of time, are just time being spent passed out.

Although however cool it would be to be able to actually treavel through time, I dont think it could be entirley possible. It woudlnt hurt to try.

Of course time travel exists.People can travel from future to past by making new universe, where you can change the past. It's sounds stupid, but I really believe in it.

^Well, then why people from future haven't already came to this very present? Science can transform the world working with the nature but how you think someone can manipulate a concept such time since it is nothig but a product of our minds?

we can record time with memories or words ... time travel is impossible. the only way to change time in my mind is to destroy it and the only way I believe that's possible is to erase the existence of anything that changes. I would look at time as change. If there is no change there is no time. but as long as there is or will be change time exists. We are ALWAYS seeing things that have ALREADY happened... Look at the stars, they are billions of light years away and we see them. It's no amazing thing to see them. I don't believe we will ever be able to see the past of the earth as in millions of years ago because we would need something that would travel much faster than the speed of light that could relay the recording back to us... The most reasonable time travel we have is just looking at what we have right now and determining what things were like before.

People from future can't come to the present/I just mean that people can change some events in past and then return back.I'm not a professional time-traveller, so I can't explain it correctly.

That is the best I have ever heard time travel described.

Haha I'm sure if you travelled back in time, you wouldn't like run around the streets naked screaming, "I'm from the future!!!" I mean there are people who claim to be from the future and we lock them up in insane asylums because we think they're crazy. But in fact, maybe we're the crazy ones for considering the innocent crazy. But then you have to define crazy. Maybe crazy is really sane and sane is really crazy? Eh, who knows...I just think its all a twisted joke to keep the masses happy and contained.

People manipulate concepts all the time...its called changing your mind. Sorry that was sorta stupid... but people can change an idea they come up with to make it better...so why can't they apply that to all areas? Naturally, a black hole changes matter. If we can figure out how this change occurs, then maybe we can use it for bending dimensions. Cuz a black hole is in theory time travel isn't it?
