most of it. and i say to everyone in the world. they need to watch this video...the world is ignoring this situation in africa. america and europe are not doing what enough, neither is the UN.

Have you read any of the petitions sent to Bush and Blair on the Fair Trade laws and the famine problem in Africa?? We all know how great the G8 summit turned out last year...... :sarcasm:

leave it to you to make it a anti bush thread. the fact is bush and republicans AND democrats and european govermetns arent doing enough and should all be held accountable for this by the people of their countries.

I've been aware of the fighting in Uganda for awhile now, but didn't know there was anything really being done about it (in an activist way, obviously nothing on a government level is going on).

And thats the problem. our goverments are ignoring the problem. the world is so focused on iraq and america that we are ignoring a much greater problem going on. its our duty as humans to help them out and we must get our goverments attention to do something.

Many students around my school have been announcing this to us with morning speeches and the such. They were those bracelets too. And are going to a lock-in sort of thing to raise money for them and support.

 

and its not just our government ignoring this case....most all governments. and unfortunately.. this is not new stuff either. And this isnt all there is. There is bunches of places just like this, worse and a tad bit better. Opression/maltreament of women and children all around.

 

So if the invisible children have touched your heart ... look around (not too hard, that isnt necessary) to find out just how much horrific things are going on!

the truth is.. just like you said... the US and wealthier countries should do more to help end this epidemic.. but the sad truth is, we don't. :\

usually it is the christian youth groups that really get into that (and i dont mean anything by that...i am just throwing it out there)
