Living in Africa

Featured Replies

i'm really interested in this theme. and i'd like to hear people's opinion who were there or who live(d) in Africa.

to read news, watch documentaries about it is so terrible and personally i can't imagine to live there. but in the future i'd really like to help on these things if i'll have a chance and opportunity.and i'd like to visit some countries and see what does really happen there. and of course it's terrible to see how big countries rob Africa.

I never even thought about this....the only thing that comes to peoples mind is only....africa=poverty!

the idea is to make poverty history...

but it's so hard...

there's so many poor people.. not just in africa. everywhere... even in our own countries.. in our own cities....

Yeah poverty will always be here. ITs just the stupid poverty, the preventable poverty which really really sucks.

i hate that... see people who have not enough money even for pay for food.. that's sad... and I feel like I can't do nothing to help

Yeah, I think spreading the word helps somewhat. And donations too I guess.

When people think of Africa, the stereotypes that pop to mind are of a continent where democracy has failed, and a land stricken by poverty, famine and civil war.

But there is so much more to Africa than that. It is the cradle of humanity. It is rich in many different cultures and history. Because the thought of 'traditional culture' goes hand in hand with the idea that Africa has rejected modernity, it is often viewed as backwards. But Africa, from a certain perspective, can be seen as one of the most successful continents on the planet when one thinks of how long people and cultures have populated its lands. Just a different angle to think about.

Europe robbed africa and is a big reason why their is so much poverty and war. and europe AND america arent doing enough to help. we are not doing our job. our goverments are not doing much to help out. something needs to happen in europe and america and any other country that can help.

^ Right, I think one of our BIGGEST falences, something next generations will reproach to us is the fact that despite knowing the graveness of the situation in Africa where many people die everyday for inhumane reasons like malnutrition, dehydration or even diseases we already control in the 1st world, nations haven't agreed to make something important about it, all rich nations can help they just don't care (enough) about it. So shameful.

I'm gonna visit Africa in the future.I wanna help them.....Life 8 influenced me :uhoh:

well, I agree that rich countries rob Africa, but it's also true that africans rob themselves... I mean Portugal had a few african colonies in the past centurys and of course took profit from them..

but it's also true that for instance Angola and Mozanbique as portuguese colonies in the begining of the last century were very rich countries and when they managed to get their independence (totally fair), they turned out into miserable countries...
