Could it be Al over?

Featured Replies

Newcastle United striker (and arguably the best player in the history of the Premiership) Alan Shearer was taken off injured during the 4-1 win over local rivals Sunderland.

The forward is retiring at the end of the season after a long reign as the clubs number 9. This means he has only 3 games left for his home town team. This season could be over for him, however, as fears he has torn a ligament in his knee grow in the North East.

:( Shearer's career could be over. Overshadows completely what a great win the mackem game was. Hope it's not as serious as it's thought to be.

Read yesterday that that is it for Shearer. Is it true? He is having his testimonial against my Celts at the end of the season. Can he still play?

Wasnt it announced today?

Its not a career ending injury obviously, its just come before he was going to retire, and I can live with that. It would've been nice to wave him off at the testimonial and Chelsea game on the 15th, but its alright.

Owen's coming back soon.

Importantly, is the Celtic game still going? I think it should, I'm going to be there and Id love it.

As far as I know they've said it's gonna go ahead, but it's not likely Shearer will be able to play. Might hobble on for last 5 mins or so.

Personally I'm not going. Couldn't get tickets cause of a basketball game. That and my brother bought his ticket with my money. :(

I'm not worried though. I was there when he broke the record and I've seen him play at St James for 10 years. :P

And... It was officially announced this weekend but he said after the Sunderland game that it was probably over.
