Renting apartments with a stranger?

Featured Replies

Im wanting to move to a nice city in california, ive been searching online. but i keep find nice looking apartments that people have and want a roommate. but i was wondering if many people do that, get a house/apartment with someone they dont know. it sounds dangerous to me, but i see alot of adds for people wanting a roommate.

Yeah I havent personally but my brother has heaps. He once lived with a guy from the band The Cat Empire which was cool.

its not uncommon for strangers to ask for roomates and such... its not just in Cali... but, it all depends on you and how you are as a person. If you can get along easily with people and stuff... you just can't be so trusting obviously...

are you looking to move to the OC!!?? I hear Stephen needs a roommate.. (Stephen from Laguna)

Yeah, im looking at places in laguna, newport and some other towns close to the beach.

go for it!!!!!! what could possibly go wrong?? haah

Uhhh everything!!!!!!

You don't know that person, you don't know if they even have the money to pay rent every month, you don't know how you will get along with them (no matter what a profile says), you don't know if they will just walk out and leave you to foot the bill.

My boyfreind was rooming with three guys, and one just up and left them and never came back (he went into the military) ...they got stuck paying four hundred extra for that!

You just never know anything that will go on...so why risk it?

Find someone you at least KNOW personally, or don't do it at all. Seriously. That would be unwise.

Don't you got any friends who you could split rent with?

Not in cali. most my close friends are a grade behind me so they are seniors now, the rest of my friends are off at college already. And it would be hard convincing any of my other friends to move to cali. but i decided it would be way to creepy moving in with someone i dont know, they could kill me while i sleep:shocked2:

ill save up a few thousands and rent an apartment on my own there. it'll take a few more months though.

This is something I might to do very soon
