Coldplay and their " save the world thing"

Featured Replies

I used to like that coldplay supported make trade fair and stuff.

But now i ask my self is that really necessary? Can Coldplay save the world? All these actions are a good try but it won't work. And in my opinion Music should be just about music ,just fun and nothing .Music may not become a sort of political promotion board!

No, I don't think that Coldplay is going to "save the world." And I know there are a lot of problems in the world, but that doesn't mean we should stop trying to help people. I think it's great that they use their fame to promote worthy causes. And really, you can ignore that and just enjoy their music if you want.

exactly. theyre not trying to save the world, theyre trying to help because so many people dont give a crap. it IS just about the music. their music really has nothing to do with their causes. its THEM that promote their causes like MTF and all that. i agree, i love that they use their fame in a positive way. its so much better than what they could be doing-- getting attention for themselves.

to each their own, and i respect all opinions, but i feel its sort of dumb to not like them because theyre trying to do good.

They are just doin' it for the chicks.

LOL. nice. uhh no but MTF is a really good thing to get into. its not about saving the world, its simply about helping people around the world.

I agree, U2 do it a lot and I'm going off them!

Pop music is about entertainment. leave the politics to the politicians;)

Why should we trust lying cheaters?

I'd rather put how my life in Chris Martin's hands than some other politician. They backstab, and I would know, because my Dad is really involved in politics.

It's good what they're trying to do, and just because they are famous it doesn't mean that they should be confined to making music and nothing else. =/

I think it's wonderful that they try to help people less fortunate than them. But I don't think they'll single-handedly "save the world."

:wink3:...Now Oprah, on the other hand...

Well, I think that's really nice of them. But - of course they won't save the world (planet's been doomed once we came / evolved / whatever)

But...he is very popular and he can help a specific lil' bit of the global problems. I guess...

Forunately, all people don't think like you.

Obviously all the actions of everydays life won't change the world but some of them contribute to improve it. Do you think sorting the garbage is useless?

I dunno where did you pulled that conclusion from, and I really don't care... But hey, as long as I'm working on the mission "Destroy the Earth", I'm satisfied :dozey: ...

Eh, I said that ONE man can't change the world...I mean one man can't even change himself! I wasn't reffering to that kind of things...sheeeesh.

One person can not save the world, a group of people (ie coldplay) cannot save the world, its going to take years and years longer after you, coldplay and i have left this earth. the idea of the make trade fair campaign, is to make people aware of what we are doing to this earth, and then for us to pass on this legacy to our children.

i would definately prefer coldplay to be political heads and speak for me than some untrustworthy politicans just in it for the benefits and payouts. coldplay are doing this without any payment and even giving their 10% back as well.

so i dont know how you can start disliking them due to their political beliefs (which they have the right to express theirs, just like you are express yours now). and if you say you just want to listen to their music and not hear anything else. do just that, because i dont hear and "support make trade fair" on any ablums or cds. they arent shoving it in your face merely letting the audience to make the choice if they want to ignore this or choose this.

sorry i hope i dont offend anyone but this is my opinion. personally coldplay is alot better than quite a few other bands out ther setting increadibly bad examples.

erm ...

i do like the fact that coldplay is supporting several charity stuff.

they make people become aware of it. that's a good thing.

but you guys make it sound like they combine their music with MTF. they've never written a song about people dying in africa. so ...

where the fuck is the problem?

we should be glad that some people on this planet are willing to help.

and that is why we shouldn't discuss if it is right or wrong!

if everyone would think like that, no one would ever try to help anyone.

Shut up, Coldplay, and make a song like Toxic already.

^ :P

coldplay is helping to raise awareness and help with the cause (along with other people), NOT to save the world single-handedly. besides, there are people who really need help and it's time that certain people learn how to give and assist instead of keeping the money to yourself like your some rich god (no offense LoL)

oh boy, democracy has only been a dream so far...and why yes, i'm also one of those lunatics that believes in the underground group that ultimately decides the next president, NOT the "people"...:sneaky:

Sorry to correct...but Coldplay did in fact write at lease 2 songs about their politics...one's called 'Politik' I think. The reason Chris allowed the lyrics to be printed on AROBTTH, even though he hates his lyrics in pint, is because it's about Fair Trade. The other is Twisted Logic.

Anyway, would you tell a doctor or a lawyer or anyone doingt any job not to get involved in world issues??? Just because they're celebrities they have to 'shut up and sing'??? We don't own Coldplay and they, like the rest of us, can stand up for whatever they like!!!

I, for one, appreciate that they're sending positive messages. But if you don't want to hear them, just listen to the music. It's all about choice!!!

^ i once heard that interview with chris and he claimed that 'Politik' isn't about politics at all. he said it's about love...

I think you're right. Coldplay should just endorse a carbonated drink or some shit and get it done with. There are more important things than trying to push a fairly reasonable message.

Hahahaha!!! Well put...sarchasm duely noted!!!

As for Chrs saying Politik isn't about politics, isn't that just like Chris??? He's so self-contradictory...lol!

they are doing a noble thing, why dis them for that?

lol i thought Politik was written directly after September 11 and thats what it was about. hmmm so many versions

i think were all getting abit political over this... they are like Bono. just a couple people doing what they can to make the world a better place. It doesnt mean they will totaly succeed in doing so.

you guys make it sound like they combine their music with MTF. they've never written a song about people dying in africa. so ...

TOTALLY agree. thank you.

and i think politik is mostly about love, then about politics, then about 9/11. i think the political parts are not too in your face either, telling you to send money to africa or denouncing the politicians for not helping, its just asking for "peace of mind and trust" rather than "give us your money! look at these poor african babies!"

so i dont really count it as a political song in the sense that we're talking about (i think)
