at Groovin The Moo in Maitland. i couldn't believe they were coming to Maitland when i heard it on jjj! (i live in maitland btw, lol, it's a bit of a hole) but yes, they're coming and yes, i'm going :D :D

 

i'm delighted.

 

anyone else seeing them soon? they're playing a lot of upcoming festivals.

^ WOW ! is that for the competition where all these bands come to play a gig at a town--- or is it a Silverchair gig? should be awesome you'll get to hear the new songs.

nah it's not for One Night Stand, it's a different thing. its called Groovin The Moo, it happened in Maitland last year too. Silverchair are just headlining it this year. i'm also soo excited to be seeing The Presets, i absolutely love them!!! ahh it's going to be a great day. :D

I love Silverchair. :D "Neon Ballroom" and "Diorama" are my fav albums from them.

i've never really been into silverchair as the time their previous albums came out i wasn't listening to the type of music i'm listening to now. straight lines is rapidly growing on me though, and there are a couple of other songs that i enjoy but i have no clue as to what they are called. i'm glad they have come out with another album, i already like this single so that's a good sign for someone who never knew gave them a chance before :tongue:

the Straight Lines single came out yesterday, it has three awesome b-sides: All Across The World which will be the closing track on Young Modern, it's different and good. Sleep All Day, which is very weird and funky and almost Dissociatives-like in parts! and the wicked-arse cover of Don't Wanna Be The One by Midnight Oil.

 

I love Silverchair. :D "Neon Ballroom" and "Diorama" are my fav albums from them.

Neon Ballroom and Diorama are my favourites too! :D two of my absolute favourite albums in the whole world. i love them, they're both close to perfect in my mind.

i'm glad you're getting into them Kathy!! i see you're also getting into Bloc Party which is awesome too! :thumbsup: but yeah, Straight Lines is one of those songs that the more you listen to, the more you like. i was like "hmm.." when i first listened to it but as i listened to it more i grew to looooove it, which has been the case with a lot of people i know as well. so yes i hope you become a Chair head for many years to come Kathy :nice:

i pre-ordered mine last week and was able to get it first thing this morning before i started work. i got the special edition with the gooooorgeous fold out hard case and the Making Of DVD which is wicked awesome :D :D :D

 

favourite track at this very moment = If You Keep Losing Sleep. PURE CLASS. :lol:

 

but yes, loving the whole album...they're wonderful, as always. :blush:

shades of Diorama, but wisely goes in a new direction. pretty much impossible to duplicate/top that album. my favorites are straight lines, reflections of a sound, waiting all day, thieving birds. very good, somewhat of a grower, but a solid effort. if i have one complaint, the "highs" of the album never reach quite as high as did those on diorama. 8/10

 

- also, if you listen to the opening guitar on low, you'd swear it's a george harrison song.

^i agree. i absolutely adore this, but i love Diorama and Neon Ballroom just a little bit more. Diorama is such a masterpiece.

 

...that said, they'd gone in a completely different direction for every record so far, and i'm so glad that they did it again for Young Mod.

 

yep this one's a lot more up-tempo and fun and danceable than everything else and i respect that. they can do no wrong :nice:

Diorama really is the height of Silverchair's career.

 

Well, at least that's what I think. It's one of the most remarkable albums i've heard. Probably in my top 10.

I love the new Silverchair record. :cool: And yes, I agree, they've gone in a completely different direction, but I love their new sound.

 

A few tracks remind me of 70s era Bowie as well. Just good stuff. :D

^yeah in an interview they mentioned the bowie influence.
