Welcome - start with Frengers or Half The World Is Watching Me...or the new No More Stories ep (if it's in there)....because that's some of their finest stuff..imo..:)

I quite like their first album A Triumph for Man (1997).

Since you liked Apocalypso I reccommend the album it's on. And The Glass Handed Kites (2005/2006). I also really enjoyed Frengers (2003) which has Mew's most popular songs (at least live in concert the fans go crazy.) It also features the song they play last at every show Comforting Sounds (the 8 minute version).

^Funny you should say that Olivia...I was just about to post this vid from Roskilde - Comforting Sounds...bloody hell, I love that song..<3

:\ I'm gonna have to buy them.

Well, you'll only be able to buy Frengers or ..And the Glass Handed Kites

the others Triumph For Man & Half The World Is Watching Me were re-issued but still the re-issues cost a fortune, that's if you can find them...I didn't feel bad d/loading them..:embarassed:

You should be able to buy the ep easily enough..iTunes or something anyway...

:D

I could probably get them on iTunes. are the reissues on iTunes?

Tero, do you think there'll be more UK shows in Nov...or just these four..?

I have no idea. Last time in 2005 it was about ten shows, so maybe.

Oh SHIT, i'm downloading now. :freak:

Wow, I was NOT expecting a leak so soon, I'm too freaking excited now. Oh my god!

I hope you guys also buy the album. Well, I know you will :)

I would prefer to own it on vinyl. But, as it looks like that won't be happening, I'll definitely pick up the CD.

Speaking of which, time for me to get some long overdue copies of Frengers and ATGHK.

Of course I am buying it! I want to OWN something of Mew's. I want to have them sign my copy even. If only I were to get so lucky. Mew's my favorite band so no matter how many leaks there are, I'm paying for it in physical form.

This is blowing my mind.

Nowhere near as convoluted as ATGHK. Good thing.

Hadn't heard Repeaterbeater before. Loving that big, fuck-off chorus.

EDIT: OH MY GOD. A DREAM IS BEAUTIFUL.

i cannot get myself to hit play yet. dont say anymore!! :cry2: whats wrogn with me? why can't i get ,myself to play it?! :(

I'm on the second to last track, and it hard to say what I think of it just yet - I love the 2 tracks we heard previously, and I really like Beach and Hawaii so far. All the other tracks, it's weird... they sound good, interesting arrangements and production, but there's something almost 'muddled' about them. This is definitely more arty than both their previous albums. So yeah, I think i'll have to give it a few more listens before I can say for sure what I think, but it's certainly a very interesting listen, and a definite change of direction for them.

Edit: Wow though, really liking "Reprise". Nice dreamy way to finish off the album :nice:

I'm at the opposite end. I love how 'packed' the songs sound. The hooks are the strongest the band's written to date.

I'm on Vaccine right now. I mean, that bass!
