basel is the nicest city in switzerland.

the lake is nice but i dont like the city at all. everyone in zuerich seems very stressed and people like to think they're better because they were born there.

Well that's a problem with the people, not how the city looks like!!;)

Or maybe KitKats??

no i havent.

i like jaffa cakes and some bicuits with mint and chcolate, forgot their name though. the orange ones are nice as well.

i quite like kitkats actually and as you get loads of different sweeties at poundland, i havent really looked for them somewhere else.

its not only that, i just dont like it but i know im a bit biased.

"Los Angeles was glowing, Paris was stunning, London was great but, there's no place like home!"

and there really isnt :p

i feel that too!

i like to travel and discover new countries but i love when i come back to my country...so i don't think i could live in another country just visit

still proud of being portuguese (just look at the sig)

i'm proud too but i really don't know why:confused:....we are not that developed and everything is not perfect here!....i spoke with a friend some months ago about this and she said she doesn't feel proud at all of being Portuguese, so why do some people feel proud of their country and others don't?

and Miguel...when you retire please tell me! :laugh2:

i'm not proud of it at all. i didnt do something about it and i wouldnt have chosen to be from there either.

i do support switzerland in football but other than that im not really bothered.

i've been over the boarder...Can+Us..but other than that, i've never had to take a plane anywhere else but Canada...sad, i know.

Except that most Scottish people say that Edinburgh isn't really "Scotland"!!:P

I didn't know such thing. Why do they say that? Because of the tourism?

yeah. living in england iis very different and the change was probablt even bigger because i moved to a city and i used to live in the conutryside for years. the biggest difference is the mentality' date=' people in switzerland are so different. the only thing i miss about switzerland is my family and a few good friends.[/quote']

Oh, yeah, I remember you lived in a village, so it must have been a HUGE change for you because also the mentality of people who live in a city is quite different from the ones who live in the countryside.

i'm not proud of it at all. i didnt do something about it and i wouldnt have chosen to be from there either.

I must admit I'm really proud of my country....(yes...yes....besides past.....)

I mean we are a developed country, good infrastructure, modern, human rights.............................etc........

yea ok maybe we have some political problems....but which country doesn't?

Julia... could you explain this?! -out of curiosity

hehe Iris sure I can explain this...;)

I think the temperament of spanish people for example is very different to the germans.....yeah the germans are seen as the serious ones....:P

but for example the situation on the streets there.....they don't seem to care about anything....I was really shocked when the guide in Barcelona told us that they want to make a law NOW which punishes people who are parking somewhere you are not allowed to park!

this is unbelieveable for me-----

when I saw where the cars were standing there....no order....

you know.....I think it would be hard for me in the first weeks to live in a country where the peoples' temperament is like that......no order...would be confusing...;)

but it#s nothing against you that#s for sure....

there is one strange thing:

Why do people always think there is no speed limit on our streets?

:laugh4:

Because people never seem to keep to them??

oh but there is??

here people don't keep to them but everyone knows there is....that's why portugal is the number one european country where there are more people killed in car accidents

strange...because in other countries they also don't keep them...

But I think people get into worse habits because the limits are generally higher than elsewhere.;)

well, i had to leave a place where i was living twice...first time i was 9, as i remember it wasn't as difficult as the 2nd time when i was 15. the 2nd departure was very difficult, especially emotionally

oh but there is??

haha yes there is....yes and like mark just said maybe the limits are just higher...

haha yes there is....yes and like mark just said maybe the limits are just higher...

i really didn't know that!

but believe me....compared to portuguese streets people in your country were driving really slow!

are those limits controlled?? like how often do people pay fines or something to be driving in a speed higher than the limit?

Oh well.......I can only tell you this by living in a village....I know there are some "flashlights" on the streets....if you are too fast they take a pic of you and then you have to pay somethig or you even loose your licence...depends on how fast you were and what the actual limit was...

sometimes they put those flahslights at places where they are not expected,..

so yes it is controlled....;)

haha, I know you don't have anything against me  but anyway, I wasn't really aware of what you've explained. When you mentioned our temperament I expected you to say it for other matters and not for the order question.

However, I thought it existed a law about this but for me it's pretty normal here that ppl park where they want to, (well, not everywhere but almost) I mean I see this as a normal thing, 'cos I've always lived with this. And, once again, you're right, people from here see the German ones too serious and even cold. My mum worked in a German company lots of years and her boss was from there...and he always complained about the seriosity of German ppl - but he was an exception, I guess ;)

Are they searching for somebody??
