Is Chris Martin going Solo?

Featured Replies

if you saw the headlines of the page You see that chris has been jamming with justin timberlake. and i think this is an opening for a solo act. like hes going to be on jay-z's new album and is looking to more and more things with other superstars. do you think this is the end for Coldplay. Or will Chris Martin return to where it all began when finish with the jay- collaboration

Nah....I don't believe it either....and you all keep forgetting they're under a five-albums contract. That means = at least 2 more!

I hope.

Oh come on.. He's worked with many artists before, just like any other artist of a band does.. That's nothing unusual!

not to be pessimistic, but if they really have to fill all five albums, they could always put out a greatest hits album...

But, I trust that the guys will stick it out, and I think we'll see plenty of stuff in the future, hopefully within two or three years.

what are the more and more things he's looking to do with other superstars? you forget chris has always been involved outside of coldplay this isn't the first time. he's recorded songs with ron sexsmith, the streets, bono, ash and was part of that bandaid band. he had a teeny role in that movie shaun of the dead and in an unreleased ash movie called slashed. many charity benefits as well. this isn't anything out of the ordinary.

Jonny has also done some guitar work for other people's albums, independent of Coldplay.

In the first place, Chris isn't ever going to go solo. He knows better than that. He lacks the self confidence, he loves his band mates too much, and he's already explained about 37482129 times that he thinks he's absolute shit without them.

Second of all, just because an artist does work with other artists seperate from their little microcosm of their band does not spell automatic doom for a band. It's actually good for memeber of a band to go out and collab with other musicians outside of the band. Keeps them challenged and motivated and inspired and prevents laziness and stagnation. Chris has worked with plenty of people in the past and so has Jonny and Guy and Will. It's not as if this is marriage and they're 'cheating' on each other by 'seeing other artists' or something like that.

Thridly, Chris isn't working with Justin Timerlake. Justin asked Chris if he would, and Chris told him no. It's old news.

And finally, they're recording a fouth album. They've built a studio and already have alot of songs rattling about and written. They've said it themselves. Like it or not, Coldplay will prevail despite Chris being a 'musical slut' and doing collabs left and right.

And to the guy who said something about a greatest hits album, that's not effing possible. They've only been around for a little over 5 years. If they release a greatest hits album anytime soon, they'd be hailed as the most egotistcal, pretencious, sell-out bands in all of musicdom. I seriously doubt that the thought of a greatest hits album has even strayed across their minds besides in joking (a la Chris' appearance in 'Extras').

Oh I thought he was already solo!:uhoh:

What....Coldplay has 4 band members????:stunned:

You're kidding right?

Please say you're kidding. I think I'll hurt someone if you aren't.

hehe.....of course I'm kidding...I was just being sarcastic because so many people criticize that often the other 3 members are forgotten...;)

Okay good. Because beleive it or not, I've actually come across people who thought that Chris was Coldplay. They didn't even KNOW nor CARED that there were three other brilliant musicians involved in the whole process and... you know... often appear in interviews and like... play on stage with Chris.

Fricking idiots.

this is true people dont sometimes dont even admire the other band mates. like many peoples favorites are chris martin but mine is jonny being an upcoming guitarist i always dwell on jonny's riffs and his style take a look in this video of glastonbury 2005 the cant get you out of my head perfomance by them. its not even their song and jonny still puts a coldplay riff in the song

Jonny is definitely my fav.

And where does he insert a Coldplay riff in there? And which one? I re-watched it and I don't pick up on it.

I thought Chris WASN'T 'jamming' with Justin Timberlake...

But I don't think he'll go solo, he's not that selfish. No offense to anyone, when I think of people "going solo" I think of it being selfish.

In the video where they do a break down of the song, its like a 10 second count and then jonny starts his solo part. it sounds like something that they would put on their tour shows
