He managed them soley from the beginning up until the Brits 2001 - he got really sick though because the band were becoming so successful he worked himself until he became seriously ill, after a stint in hospital he realised he needed help, that's where Estelle and Dave come in. Estelle is CP's UK manager and Dave is their US manager. Whenever Chris talks about Phil now he says he is the silent 5th member - he helps them make decisions (for example he persuaded Chris to put 'Clocks' on AROBTTH) and generally overlooks proceedings! He's still around, just not in the spotlight!

he's not ill now - but i remember reading that he got seriously ill in 2001 because he was handling the band single-handedly and they were becoming so huge - he worked himself until he was ill, then he got help from Estelle and Dave and he's fine now!
