England Head Coach Steve McClaren has named a 26 man squad for the forthcoming matches with Brazil and Estonia.

 

McClaren has recalled Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham while Michael Owen has also been included in a senior squad for the first time since the World Cup.

 

David Bentley and Nicky Shorey, of Blackburn Rovers and Reading respectively, have been named for the first time after eye-catching displays in Friday's 'B' international victory over Albania.

 

Chelsea's Joe Cole, whose season has been blighted by injury, will join up with the squad after a long period away from the international scene.

 

England will play Brazil at Wembley Stadium - the Three Lions first visit to the new stadium - before travelling to Estonia for a Euro 2008 Qualifier on 6 June.

Haha, Werder Bremen's Diego scored the last-minute-goal yesterday and prevented England's victory over Brazil. :dance:

 

I only watched the first half, but it was extremely boring. Especially England was very weak in my opinion...

We deserved to win though.

 

We were a lot better than we have been under McClaren. Beckham was excellent.

 

I notice though, that we conceded because of lazy defending, after John Terry was taken off, Jamie Carragher had been moved position and Wes Brown had been on the field only 20 minutes.

 

It's encouraging that REALLY we outplayed Brazil. Second half was dominated by us, in my opinion. Beckham went close from a free kick that you'd expect him to score from 9 out of 10 times, so we really could have won.

 

In my opinion, all we need to sort out is our strikers. Rooney and Owen if fit, but they need to work well together, and we haven't seen that yet.

hey dont diss Diego, hes a great young player and im extremely happy for him....nothing he does in the beautiful game warrants being labeled a "cunt". Hes a fair tenacious player who stays on his feet and loves the game...what more can you ask for?
