Telecaster THinline 72'

Featured Replies

Hey i need some reviews on the Fender Telecaster Thinline.

I dont want it to be biast because Jonny uses them though. So please really just keep it like a normal review. thanks for the help.

Im pretty interested in buying one if anyone is selling one in good condition and doesnt expect a crap load of money for it.

I dig it, but I've only played it for a short time. I just don't care for the thin neck and round radius of Thinline....though I think most Fenders have a similar profile *shrugs*. It sounded and looked great, but I love F-holes and the Tele shape. I ended up with a Carvin semi-hollow.

You should be able to find one at a decent price. Definitely try one out first.:guitarist:

yea im gonna try one out this weekend if its still at the music store

Telecaster Thinline year '72

^^^^ Ohhh.... I know. It's hard not to biased since we are Coldplay fans.

However, I did manage to try one out at a guitar store!

It was really nice. Being a girl, I liked the smaller neck radius (since I'm genetically stuck with somewhat smaller hands than most guys  )

Anyway, the Telecaster Thinline had a nice ring to it and could go from silky/blues tones to meatier/rock tones because of the double humbuckers and semi-hollow F-hole.

I liked it, but could not purchase it yet, evidently due to shortage of money, as the guitar is around the $500 range....

It's something to look forward to getting in the future though ;)

But, yeah, you should definitely try any instrument out before you buy it!

I hope you like it. It seems like a really versatile guitar. :singer: :guitarist: :drummer:

^^^^ Oh well.... At least you tried it out.

hehehe. I guess you're a "Strat" rat eh? :D

  • 2 months later...

Last week I spent an hour at guitarcenter trying out guitars I can't afford...and I must say that after trying out several strats and teles alike, the single '72 telecaster thinline they had was overwhelmingly my favorite. I used to dislike the aesthetic (as much as a coldplay fan I am) but the f-hole cavity and overall coloration is really cool, plus it had, by far, the clearest, most-cutting tone of all the guitars I tried. I've dropped in a couple times since then...it's a lot of fun, plugging it into an expensive amp and cranking up the reverb...

I am so cheap. ;)

It looks so cool....I'd be happy just with a standard edition one..cos theyre so cool.

However I do like the telecaster the most.

I own the regular non thinline model of the '72 tele. The pickups don't stand out at all, so I'd suggest replacing them if you buy it.
