Enjoy the Rough Trade East gig, I won't be in the country unfortunately... make sure you take a few mates with you.

It's great to have the album out next week... finally the world will know how amazing The Domino State are.

Here's a video of "For Now" it's one of my favorite tracks from 'Uneasy Lies The Crown'.

Debut Album

'Uneasy Lies The Crown'

Released August 16th 2010

Just need to keep the reviews like that one coming in... 9/10... it doesn't get much better!

x

I would rank Clash Magazine on the same level as newspaper reviews for music, they give away far to many high marks

The review itself isn't entirely the best description of the music, I must agree... so I hope that this falls into the all press is good press category... the album deserves a minimum of 7/10 in my incredibly biased option. :\

Ok, a heads up on The Domino State gigs happening this week... they are all album launches... & albums should be available on the night...

Drowned in Sound review of 'Uneasy Lies the Crown': http://drownedinsound.com/releases/15513/reviews/4140676

"... Overall, despite the wait, Uneasy Lies The Crown is a lavish collection that fully exemplifies the promise shown within those early singles. Henry IV would be proud, and The Domino State should be too. Magnificent. 8/10"

Another good review of 'Uneasy Lies the Crown' over at Contact Music:

http://www.contactmusic.com/new/home.nsf/albumreview/the-domino-state-uneasy-lies-the-crownx11x08x10

"...The album finishes off just how it started full of energy, grit, sweat, determination and emotion. Domino State are one of the most exciting bands to come out of London in 2010 and their debut album is worth the purchase. "

Love the videos vinca! Were they taken on an iPhone?

Were they well received in Manchester?

Nothing wrong with a little bit of shameless promotion for a band you love. ;)

I'm lovin' the new single. Have you pre-ordered the album?

Do you live in Berlin?

Sorry for the delay in getting back, have been a little quiet around here ;)

Yep, I ordered the album at the beginning of July, when the link was revealed and Rough Trade did an amazing job as I already received the physical copy this past monday :)

I haven't stopped playing the album ever since and I can really recommend it. It's absolutely worth buying :)

And no, I'm not from Berlin but from Hamburg.

Had to drive to Berlin as I missed TDS in Hamburg at the beginning of March, as I was in Mexico to see a different band there *cough* at that time ... ;)

Ooh I had forgotten about this thread until today, I really must venture out of the Coldplay section more often :)

I got my album from Amazon, it came today and I love it, nice to see some of the oldies like What's the Question revamped. I still love This Oubliette to bits.

Actually I just checked Amazon again and see that it's "out of stock" now, they obviously didn't anticipate the demand.

I don't use i tunes myself , I just have an mp3 player and also know that there are lots of non uk fans that would like the chance to buy the bonus track, it's a shame that it's exclusive to i tunes.

eh...there's an iTunes only bonus track? i shall need to check that out, then. tho i personally prefer a physical CD over digital tracks, especially with all the DRM nonsense & PC/devices limit.

btw, great to hear that you're enjoying the album Carol. shall get round to popping mine in for a listen shortly (was busy getting some project work done earlier in the day). btw how many copies of the album do you now have anyway by now? heh ;)

Oooh hi Kimmi, yes I prefer physical copies too but this bonus track is a download only :(

Haha, only two copies (so far) ;) One from Amazon and one from my little friends in Bristol   Still waiting on my competition winning one, I noticed one of the other winners said on Facebook that he got his on Friday, hope mine hasn't got lost in the post.

Glad you're getting some of your work done, good luck with it.

I haven't listened to any other album since last week's monday.

Always hear TDS when I drive to and from work.

The album is absolutely amazing, brilliant ... I'm lost for words - HONESTLY!!

I've read some reviews and someone said somewhere that they deserve to be HUGE.

Completely agree with that :)

Like you advised Kirsten, Pompeii is beautiful and I still love Firefly, Safe now, Big Wheel Six This Oubliette etc and also adore You are The Winter :)

It's wonderful to hear everyone's favorite tracks on the album... It really does have a massive sound to it, the bass & the wall-of-sound guitars are as always, impressive.

Hopefully 'My Design' will be available by other means at some point... it's worth the iTunes download in my opinion, but I do understand that's not everyone's cup of tea.

Surely it will be available on other non-UK iTunes stores... I have to admit that I love having a physical CD/Vinyl copy of albums also. :-)

Did anyone make it to any of the album launch gigs last week?

Hope you're all still enjoying the album... x

iTunes exclusive bonus track...

Album automatically loses 1 star, (it's the same with bonus tracks which are attached to the last song after a period of silence, even if it's the greatest track in the world it still loses 1 star automatically :P)

And iTunes not charging £7.99 for an album nor 99p for a song :o

Anybody whom uses iTunes to buy music is a crazy fool, 999 times out of 1000 it's cheaper on either 7 digital/amazon mp3/play digital with the benefit of it being in high quality mp3.

Hopefully my copy of the CD will arrive tomorrow with a knock on the door from the postman saying "hello, special delivery, sign here please", I love Amazon prime :D

haha...& here's me, not listening to my copy that i've had since Saturday! shame on me! :shame:

hmmm...i shall try & put my *ahem* academic education to use & see what i can do for you for that track then. ;)

hope your competition copy didn't really get lost in the post! :stunned:

(tho if it somehow has, whoever's got it better well be appreciating the songs on the album! :P)

Firefly & WMNSOA aside, my fave is The Oubliette (can't even spell it w/o looking at the album!) & For Now. somehow taken a liking to the mellower tunes. :)

may change as i listen to it more...

Well, honestly saying I don't really like MP3 downloads, I just do it, when I really can't wait for an album but usually I prefer the physical copy over any mp3-download, no matter if it's iTunes, Amazon-mp3 or any other provider.

In fact I am approaching some troubles here as I slowly start wondering where to store all my bought CDs. I've got 5 racks already, each with a capacity of around 150 CDs each and they are to 4/5 full ... ;)

My vinyls not even mentioned ... :laugh3:

But back to the main topic.

There's hardly any song on the album which I don't like, it just depends on the mood I'm currently in but right now I'm completely hooked by 'Pompeii'.

Apart from that I just love 'This Oubliette', it's kinda my fave song over all :)

'What's The Question?' (the original single edit), 'You Are The Winter', 'WMNSOA' and 'Reverie' are close followers ...

But as mentioned earlier, it's pretty hard to single out a song which is 'less' good. Just because ... there isn't one ;)

And IMHO, with a little promo 'This Oubliette' (even though being a so-called b-side) would do pretty well over here on some radio stations as it's not to 'rocky' but has a wonderful melody & this kind of hymn-feeling attached to the song. You just catch yourself wanting to sing along to it at the top of your voice ;) *cough* speaking from my own experience here :laugh3:

I just really hope that this album and the career itself will put TDS where they belong, somewhere amongst the big band of the 21st century ... :)

Edit:

Hmmm, maybe I should copy&paste the text above and post it to Amazon reviews ;)

Did a review for Amazon Germany already, maybe that will encourage people to order it, though EUR 28,- there might scare most of the people off ;)

Downloaded the album (from itunes with extra track:D). Couldn't wait for my cd to arrive. Played it non-stop yesterday.

I'll let you know my favourites after a few more listens.
