bEST cOLDPAY SONG LYRICALLLY

Featured Replies

What song ha sthe best lyric.oooh....ahhhhh........oh no theres.....so many....hard to choose ahhhhhhhhhh!!!

HELP!!!!!!

A Rush of Blood To The Head (song) has good lyrics. I'm not sure whether Bucket for a Crown counts but i like the lyrics of that song aswell.

"see you soon," "the scientist," "careful where you stand," "amsterdam," and "shiver." those are my big 5 lyric loves. then "warning sign," methinks.

you guys are nuts... its Gravity and The Scientist. Shiver? come on... Might throw Amsterdam in there too.

Politik has some profound lyrics, as well as Twisted Logic...very thoughtful.

crests of waves ! and thngs i don't understand are pretty good to me

but of course the classics are too

Careful where you stand tops my chart, I always get this strange feeling of how much Chris adores Jonny when I hear it...

My favourite song lyrically is Fix You, I'm bored of litening to it cause of the melody, but their my favourite lyrics, I also like Low.

Just my opinion but I think their older stuff has far better lyrics than some of their later stuff (ie: X&Y). I also like their sound in the Parachutes and AROBTTH eras better, so I might be a little biased.

:bigcry:

TOO HARD!

whay i would say,,

The scientist, a message amsterdam and warningn sign

I think - Politik, In My Place and The Scientist...

oh and fix you...

:rolleyes::):rolleyes:

ohh i forgot..

See you soon

and gravity

"swallowed by the sea" also" politik"

I feel exactly the same way!

Gosh, I couldn't choose! The lyrics of their songs are always so great, but some of the songs that have the best lyrics would be Amsterdam or Politik, I love the lyrics. :)

I forgot about twisted logic. The lyrics are very........... twisted.

i also completely agree. i think that was perhaps the biggest let-down of X&Y for me, because i think lyrical quality is huge. im nowhere near an X&Y-hater, so i dont mean that to sound bad, but parachutes and AROBTTH is where its at for lyrics to me. the X&Y lyrics are so...oblique and unpoetic.

though i love love love the line "the streets youre walking on, a thousand houses long" from swallowed in the sea. that line always gets me.

oh oh oh, i cant believe i forgot! "your love means everything"! i know its not technically a coldplay song, per se, but to my knowledge chris is the one that wrote the lyrics to it and i LOVE that song an inordinate amount. the lyrics sound very chris-ish, anyway, and when googling it there were a couple different sites claiming chris wrote them.

[and if chris DIDN'T write those lyrics for a fact, dont tell me!! itll just let me down]

Haha, its good to know that other people feel the same way on the subject ;), sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who is not that impressed with X&Y. I have a friend who loves the album, I think he loves every song on there except Fix You.

I don't hate X&Y either, it's a pretty good album... and yeah, not all of the songs are lyrically inferior. Its when people start heralding it as 'The best album ever' and 'Coldplay's Masterpiece' when I start to wonder what they can possibly like more in an album that has two siblings which are better in almost every respect.

Having said that, I still love Speed of Sound, Square One, A Message, Swallowed in the Sea, and Sleeping Sun from the era. I just hope now that they can move on from that sound & style of music and give us something fresh and original.

for me are Amsterdam and Swallowed in The Sea

Totally agree with you.:)

sometimes i think we must have very similar brains with the things we post ;). if im not mistaken, we've agreed a few times before as well.

and those are all my favorites from the X&Y era as well, sleeping sun in particular. if the new stuff is in the same vein as that "most recent" release of theirs [sleeping sun, i mean], then im expecting to love it. :D

Yes well great minds think alike I suppose ;), we have agreed on quite alot of things. The delay of LP4 in particular :laugh3:

Although i think it shows that unlike other fans who are obsessed with the band members more than anything else, we tend to care more about the quality of the music they produce and the direction they might be going for their next release.

I don't know about you, but I have a feeling we're yet to see the best of Coldplay. I think theres quite a lot of untapped potential.

I can't tell you how much I agree with you (even if I am a little obsessed with Chris :P). I probably care more about the well being of the band and their music than I do about what they are doing this very moment or if I'll ever marry one of them( now that is obsessed).

And the reason we all think alike, we're gennerally here for one reason; to discuss and praise the work and the good heartedness of Coldplay, because even though we don't want to think we're obsessed, we still love them:laugh3::rolleyes::D:P

its not that i dont agree with you on your last opinion, im just regretably...not as optimistic. i cant articulate why, nor do i even know if theres a reason behind it, but i think it might have something to do with AROBTTH being my absolute favorite album of all time. and unlike other albums that i have previously claimed as my #1 (revolver, to be specific), i just have the gut feeling that no matter what anybody else puts out in my lifetime, even coldplay, it cannot top that album for me. they may come close, but i have a hard time believing anything will ever usurp it. AROBTTH is pretty much the epitome of music for me, as much as i love other things. and while im certainly not going to be disappointed by anything less, i just have a hard time believing that im going to be as blown away by their next effort. however, im completely open to it, and if they do, i think i may go into an existential sort of coma for a little while :laugh1:

and of course the musical quality is my top concern: i would have no other reason to know who they are without that, and no other reason to love them (or at least to initially love them: theyre great people, but what i mean is that i would probably have no way of knowing that if i hadnt been as captivated by their music first).

however, erm...on the flip side of that coin, im quite girlishly obsessed with chris martin . im usually not that person, but all bets are off with him. and ashamedly, i must admit that back in 2002/2003 before i knew anything about coldplay besides the existence of the song "clocks" (which, for the record, i liked and found incredibly innovative, even if i was too obsessed with the beatles to really care) it was, erm, chris's adorably wacky brand of dance moves in the "clocks" video that got me initially. and its what made me keep watching the "speed of sound" video that first time it came on the air (but i was in love with EVERYTHING about them at the end of the 4 minutes, 37 seconds).

:stunned: so theres my slightly embarrassing confession for the night. ok, not embarrassing, but i think my girlish obsession could slightly interfere with my credibility as a fully respected participant in such board discussions :laugh1:

and for the millionth time, i talk too much.
