A Retrospective look: Albums of the year 2006.

Featured Replies

I was just looking over my list of favourite albums from last year.

Almost all of them I don't really listen to anymore. The only ones I still listen to regularily are Sell Control For Life Speed (Pilot Speed), The Eraser(Thom Yorke), and Beck (The Information).

Here are where you can find last years lists. http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37067

How about the rest of you? Do you still listen to many 2006 albums?

Do you think a year from now you will still be listening to alot of 2008 albums?

Not as many 2006 albums, and by the end of next year I will prob be listening to a lot of 2008 albums, with about the same in 2007 albums.

i have 3 of the 2006 top 10 albums compared to one this year! i liked last years a lot more, plus i voted last year and i didn't this year. Hopefully next year i'll be able to vote again

2006's top 10:

01 Muse - Black Holes and Revelations

02 Snow Patrol - Eyes Open

03 Thom Yorke - The Eraser

04 Keane - Under the Iron Sea

05 Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

06 The Killers - Sam's Town

07 The Kooks - Inside In/Inside Out

08 Red Hot Chili Peppers- Stadium Arcadium

09 The Strokes - First Impressions of Earth

10 Razorlight - Razorlight

Those 3 ones I highlighted, I actually purchased in the first week of sale, I got 1, 2 & 4 a few months down the line.

Compare that to this year's list:

1 - radiohead

2 - arcade fire

3 - travis

4 - editors

5 - interpol

6 - arctic monkeys

7 - bloc party

8 - klaxons

9 - the shins

10 - foo fighters

I only got, 1, 4, 6, 7 & 10 in the first week, waiting to get 3 & 5 a few months down the line.

The only 2006 album I really still listen to is Love by The Beatles, and it's not even on that list!!

From that 2006 list, I'm still listening to #1, 2, 4, and 7 sometimes. But I like 2007's top 10 better than 2006's, so I'd probably still listen to many of them at the end of 2008.

I still listen to Liars-Drums Not Dead and Joanna Newsom-Ys.

from 2006 list I still listen to

01 Muse - Black Holes and Revelations

04 Keane - Under the Iron Sea

05 Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

06 The Killers - Sam's Town

and of the 2007 list

2 - arcade fire

3 - travis

6 - arctic monkeys

so it's almost the same :P

I'd say I actually listen to a lot more of the top 2006 albums now than I did a year ago. Used the list to slowly get into quite a few bands.
